ry Sherry farm at Danville,

he'd like to see more farm-!
ers enter this field.
The Farm Host Program,
Inaugurated four years ago,
caters mostly to city dwellers
who want to see a farm in
operation or try their hand at i
milking a cow, feeding live
stock or plowing a field.
To date legal involvements 1
and licensing requirements
have prevented more farmers i
from accepting overnight and
weekly guests. The day-long
farm tours arc free.
Parker says the department
is flooded with requests for
such accommodation, both for
tourists and for parents who
would like to board their chil- i
drcn on a farm for their sum
mer vacation.
Participating farms are
close to the main highways
so tourists can find them cas-!
ily. The Danville farm which
takes guests is off U.S. Route 1
2. just west of St. Johnsbury
in ;the so-called Northeast!
