the Jacksonville museum in
May came from 43 states,
Washington, D. C, Canada,
England, Ireland, Germany
and Okinawa, Curator Miss
Mary Hanley has announced.
May attendance of 5,285 is 750
over a year ago,
A total of 1,135 school chil
dren with their teachers were
conducted through the mu
seum in May. They included
the third grades from Jeffer
son, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Oak
Grove and Griffin Creek
schools, and fourth grade
from West Side school in
Medford; the Lincoln and
Briscoe schools in Ashland;
Jewett school in Central
Point; Patrick school in Gold
Hill, and Phoenix, Talent,
Rogue River, Sams Valley and
Jerome Prairie schools.
Other schools were the third
and fourth grades from the
Prospect, Shady Cove and
Williams schools; the primary
grades of the Seventh-day Ad
ventist school, Grants Pass;
the Tri-City school, Douglas
county; the fourth and fifth
and sixth grades from Sams
Valley; the fourth, sixth and
seventh grades from Murphy;
the seventh and eighth grades
from the Hugo school; and the
eighth grade from Rogue Riv
er, Evans Valley, Fort Van-
noy, Glendale and Lakeview
schools.
So far this year 2,880 stu
dents have visited the muse

Prospect; Lone Pine Blue
birds; Brownies from Med
ford and Troop 93, Jackson
county, Troop 77, Jackson
ville, Cub Scouts from Den 4,
Pack 5; Den 4, Pack 3, and
Den 7, Pack 3, all of Medford.
Glenn Simpson, Ashland,
presented the museum a col
lection of pioneer Ashland pic
tures. These show the town's
pioneer citizens, their activi
ties, their buildings and street
scenes.
Other gifts and loans in
May included Indian baskets
from Miss Suth Nye and Wil
liam Salade, Medford, and
Mrs. Vivien C. Coffin, Pomo
na, Calif.; mineral specimens
from William B. Johnson,
Ashland; clothing and sewing
articles from Mrs. Alfred S.
V. Carpenter, Mrs. Burton
Daugherty, Mrs. J. E. Knee
land and Mrs. R. C. Houscl,
all of Medford; books and
records from James W. Grigs
by, Medford, the Oregon State
Horticultural society, Corval
lis, and Miss Thayer Ray
mond, Wash. Miss Raymond
also gave a pistol.
A bottle was received from
Trudy Brewer, Central Point,
and photographs came from
Mrs. James Pack, Grants Pass.
