Weyerhaeuser To
Close N. Y. Plant ,
Rochester, N.Y. UPI The
Weyerhaeuser Co. of Tacoma,
Wash., announced Saturday
It would shut down its box
board and folding carton di
vision plant here in a move
that will idle 220 workers.
The closure was blamed on
large losses sustained over a
period of years at the 67-year-old
plant that has been strike
bound since May 1.
Another Weyerhaeuser unit
here, the shipping containers
division, also has been affect
ed by the strike, but company
officials said it will continue
to operate.

still have a year or more to

He said the rumors apparent

situation was discussed.

Margaret McLean, of 431
West Hth St., who died Thurs
day, will be held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday in Conger - Morris
downtown chapel. The Rev.
Robert 3ridge of the First
Presbyterian church will of
ficiate. Committal will be in
Siskiyou Memorial park.
Mrs. McLean was born Jan.
20, 1884, in Vancouver, Wash.
She was married May 30,
1904, in Portland, to Roy M.
McLean, who died in ,1946.
Survivors include two sons,
Edward H. McLean, and Rob
ert L. McLean, of Ketchikan,
Alaska..
Bearers will Include Pete
Orr, Claude Haggard, ' Roy
Martin, Dr. E. M. Hanawalt,
Dorance Hayes, and Archie
Pierce.
GERALD L. BOLT
The body of Gerald Louis
Boll, 65, of Central Point,
who died Friday, has been re
turned to Grldley, Calif., for
services and interment, by
Conger-Morris funeral direc
tors. Mr. Bolt was born July 8,
1896, in California, and had
lived for a number of years
in southern Oregon, where he
was employed as a watchman
In a lumber mill. He was a
veteran of World War I.
HASKELL O. HOLT
Haskell O. Holt, formerly
of Medford. died May 31 at
his home in Lakevicw. He
was born June 27, 1907, at
Chelsea, Okla.
He moved to Medford in
1925 and served in the Navy
during World War II. He was
a member of Central Point
lodge, AF&AM; Scottish Rite,
Medford, and Hillah temple
of the Shrine.
Survivors include his wife,
Hilda Holt; one daughter,
Sharon Hanson, and one
granddaughter of Eugene; his
mother, Mrs. A. B. Holt, Med
ford; one brother, W. H. Holt,
Medford; two sisters, Mrs. A.
J. Smith, Seattle, and Mrs.
Ronald DeVore, Medford; one
step-son, James W. Barry.
Grants Pass; and two step
daughters, Gloria Elkins,
Sweet Home, and Genevieve
Larson, Lakevicw.
Funeral services were held
June 2 at the Osterman Mor
tuary, Lakeview. Interment
was in the West Side cemetery.
San Francisco, to Alton W.
Nairn, who survives.
Other survivors include
two sons, Grant Nairn, at
home; and Pfc. Craig Nairn,
with the U.S. army in Ger
many; her mother, Mrs. Mar
guerite Wilmot, Newhall,
Calif.; and two brothers,
Ralph Wilmot, Spring Valley,
Calif., and Merrill Wilmot,
Brookings.
MRS. MAMIE BLAIR
Mrs. Mamie Blair died this
morning in a local rest home.
Funeral arrangements will be
announced by Conger-Morris,

Dr. Laurence Nye
To Leave Portland
Portland (UPII -' Dr. Laur
ence Nye, pastor of the First
Methodist Church here since
1944, said Sunday he plans to
leave at the end of another
year.
Dr. Nye said he had expect
ed to remain only about five
years when he came here
from Minneapolis nearly 18
years ago. He did not an
nounce his plans beyond next
May.
The announcement came
just two days before opening
in Salem of the Oregon An
nual Conference of the Metho
dist Church.

who preceded her in death in
December, 1950. She was mar-
ried June 14, 1952. in Eagle
I Point, to E. A. "Ted" Silk
1 wood, who survives. She was
a member of the Church of
Christ, Central Point
