Let, superinten dent of the Medford Water commission, was among the 700 water utility leaden who participated in the three-day annual conference of the Pa cific Northwest section of the American Water Works asso ciation which closed Friday, June 1 In Seattle, Wash. Among topics covered were discussions of new standards for drinking water; monitor ing water supplies radiologic al ly; problems caused by new exotic organic chemicals; and committee reports on pipe in stallation standards and safe ty programs. Some of the technical ses sions Included relating ex periences In new filtration methods, chemicals to Im prove water quality, and in formation regarding the re charge of ground water aqui fers. Hydrologic processes of snow and Ice at high altitudes was also presented. Problems of financing water systems and general management also were discussed. Other meeting highlights Included American Water Works president, John Cra m e r, assisted by William Hurst, vice president. This consisted of a display of water and colored lights with a musical background.
