ARTIST RESCUED - Firemen go lo the rescue of bearded,
shoeless artist Heinz Dressier, top, on a beam atop the hull
of a demolished warehouse in San Francisco. Firemen rushed
to the scene when It was feared Dressier was attempting sui
cide. He was sunning himself, he told police, and was sorry
he caused such a commotion. He also admitted he didn't
know how to get down, so it's a good thing the firemen
decided to investigate. (UPI)
King-Anderson Bill
Attacked at Ashland
Chamber Luncheon
Ashland - The King-Anderson
medicare bill is based on
two erroneous assumptions,
according to Dr. Christian P.
Hald. Ashland physician, in a
talk before the Ashland
Chamber of Commerce Tues
day. Dr. Hald said the two as
sumptions are that a majority
of persons 65 and over are
in poor health and that a
majority of them do not have
adequate insurance coverage
to take care of health emer
gencies. He went on to cite several
surveys which he fell indi
cated both assumptions were
false.
The doctor also attacked
the medicare bill on the
grounds that it would not
provide enough coverage for
the aged, that it would be
costly for the entire popula
tion of the nation and that it
would duplicate, services al
ready in existence on the
State level.
Cover All Aged
Dr. Hald said he felt some
sort of a medicare plan would
be desirable but that "it
should cover all the aged,
not just those already under
social security."
He charged that under the
King-Anderson bill, hospital
visits would cost old people
more than they do under
normal private insurance cov
erage. He said his own father
had recently been hospital
ized in Minnesota for 13 days,
Jor which his total bill
amounted to just $9 more
than his insurance benefits.
Under the King-Anderson
plan, Dr. Held said he figured
his father would have had
to pay at least S90.
The physician also criti
cized the bill for regulations
it would place on hospitals
and doctors. Patients would
be able to use the services of
only those hospitals which
had negotiated a contract
with the federal government
and be given only those drugs
approved by the government,
he stated.

is also geared toward more
uniform practices in student
council work throughout the
