Oregon. The estimated volumes are:
3.500 M board feet of Douglas-fir;
950 M board feet of western white
pine: 2.850 M board feel of Shasta
red fir and other species. The mini
mum acceptable bid per M board
feel is as follows: Douglas-fir
$11.75; western white pine $12 05;
Shasta red fir and other species
S4.70. This includes the following
rates, per M board feet for stump
age including deposit for sale area
betterment: $5.00 base rate plus an
additional J5.B5 for Douglas-fir,
S7.00 base rate plus an additional

and $0.90 for slash disposal for all
species. The prices bid lor stump
age shall he considered as tenta
tive rates subject to quarterly cal
endar adjustment upward or down
ward by 0.5 of the difference be
tween the average of the monthly

culated by the Forest Service or
the Western Pine Association Lum
ber Price Index for the three pre
vious months, and the following

Such adjustments in the price for
lumpage shall be applicable to
timber scaled during the three
months period following the quar
ter for which the adjustment is
computed. In no event, however,
shall (he payment rates for each
quarter be less than the base rates
ns stated above. When the adjusted j
rates by species are lower than the ;
base rates, the difference between i
the total dollar value of the tim
ber cut at adjusted rates and at
base rates will be recorded for each
species. The stumpage rate for a
species will not be increased above
the base rate until the subsequent
adjusted rates above the base rate
will develop an accumilated total
dollar value for the species in ex
cess of the recorded accumulated
difference. Sealed bids will be pub
licly opened and posted, at the
office of the Forest Supervisor, at
