Jackson Project
Biggest of Bids
On Highway Jobs
Salem - IUPII - A paving and
signing Job covering 9.45
miles on Ihe 12lh st.-North
Ashland interchange on the
Pacific Highway was the big
gest of the bids on 42 pro
jects which the Oregon High
way Department opened here
Wednesday.
The combined bids totaled
$4.8 million and ran only 2.1
per cent under department
estimates.
The Jackson county bid,
submitted jointly by Fred H.
Slater and E. C. Hall, both of
Portland, was for $2,123,110.
Two projects were with
drawn from bidding and will
come up later. They include
traffic signals on the Pacific
Highway East and River rd.
In Milwaukie, and the paint
ing of the Union ave. and
Grand ave. bridges over rail
road tracks and the Banfield
Expressway in Portland.
The highway commission
will meet here Friday to
award contracts. Other ap
