he monthly meeting of
Pack 4 wai held in the Oak
Grove School gymnasium re
cently. The flag was presented by
Den 6. Den 2 led songs and
sang a Pinewood Derby song
and Den 5 presented a skit
about "Dr. I. Q." Den 3 en
tertained with an Hawaiian
song accompanied by a hula.
Den 2 offered a Calypso
routine accompanied by "in
struments." The Akela doll
for routine attendance as well
as the awards flag was won
by Den 3.
Awards presented were
Randy Gillespie, denner, Gary
Shores, bear badge and as
sistant denner, Den 1; George
Heffner, two year pin, Greg
Taylor, silver arrow with
wolf, assistant denner, Alex
Dumas, silver arrow with
wolf, and Martin Harrison
and Ronald Smith, denner,
Den 2; Ricky Hart, bobcat,
Ricky Eppinger, Douglas
Plane, Ray Ayres, Dennie
Bailey, and Mike Bryant,
gold arrow with wolf, and
Jim Steele, gold and silver
arrow with wolf, all Den 3.
Also Bill Stabler, bear, and
Richard Caster, silver arrow
with wolf, both Den 4; Mike
Llewellyn and David Dodge,
one year pins, and Rodney
Purdy, Mike Carr, and Mike
Walley, bobcat, all Den 5, and
John Porter, assistant denner,
and Jay Ragsdale, denner.
School News
Ashland High School

As the 1961-62 school year
comes to an end, Ashland
High school bustles with
events.
Next year's student body of
ficers were elected recently.
Mike Cotton was elected pres
ident; Rick Pierce, vice presi
dent; Scott Roberts, second
vice president; Carol Bjork
secretary; Nancy Latimer,
Latimer, treasurer, and Kay
Moore, yell queen.
Finishing touches for the
Junior - Senior Prom, to be
held on May 26, are now be
ing completed. It is going to
be held in Britt Ballroom at
Southern Oregon College at 8
p.m. The theme has not been
revealed yet.
Seniors had their skip-day
May 14. Seniors will also get
half a day off because they
won SSS-Day. Competition
for SSS-Day has been going
on all year and the results
were announced last week.
The half-day will be some
time during the week of May
21.
Yvonne Nicolson, exchange
student from South Africa,
gave a speech to the student
body May 16, about her land,
and her home. She gave her
impressions of America and
thanked everyone for being
hospitable.
Dorothy Freeman, Ashland
High senior, was chosen,, to
represent the Civil Air Po-
trol as an exchange delegate
Dorothy will receive an all
expense paid trip to Alaska
She leaves July 13 and re
turns July 30. Dorothy is a ca
det first lieutenant in the CI
vil Air Patrol.
