Safety Conference

Several resolutions were
passed during the recent Jack
con County Teen-Age Traffic
Safety conference.
All secondary schools In the
date should offer a standard'
lzed, state-approved course In
driver education, and this pro
gram should be available to
more students than at present.

Another resolution sug
gested that the Oregon state
minimum insurance require
ments should be raised from
the present policy.
The initial driver's license
test, both behind the wheel
and written, should be more
severe, and more driver im-
provement schools should be
established throughout the
state were other resolutions.
Conference members also
recommended that parents or
the guardian of the juvenile
traffic violator should be notl-
ficd of the violation by the
court. The court should re
quire parental attendance In
court.
All traffic court judges in
the state should be members
of the Oregon State Bar asso
ciation, according to another
resolution.
The Jackson County Teen
age Traffic Safety Conference
delegates should establish a
Jackson County Teenage Safe
ty Council to carry out the
proposed resolutions of the
conference. Members of the
council would be officers
elected at the conference, and
Include two representatives
from all the high schools in
the county.
New officers elected for
1962-83 are Dave Force, Gold
Hill, president; Jim Ricks,
Central Point, vice president;
Barbara Schatz, Central Point,
secretary.

was hold at Medford High
school with keynote speaker

L. Sawyer, district court
Judge; Alan B. Holmes, dis
trict attorney; Hal Carver,
driver training Instructor at
Medford High school; and
Ren Taylor, Jackson county
association of insurance
agents.

Lost; Found Asleep
A missing seven-year-old
Medford girl was found after
an intensive search recently
on Fjrt Dick beach near
Crescent City, Calif.
Dcllcne Wright, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. William H.
Wright, 1482 Grand ave.,
Medford, was found asleep In
some grass by two men in a
Jeep, Thomas Mounts, of Fort
Dick, and Harold Thomas,
Crescent City, part of a search
posse.
Wright reported his daugh
ter missing to the sheriff's of
fice after she was. going to
walk down to the beach to
the fire to get warm. How
ever, when it came time to
leave, she could not be found.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Cur
tis, route 1, Eagle Point, ac
companied the Wrights to
Crescent City where they vis
ited Morris's parents.
