prices the consumer must pay

matched by rising produc
tivity. .
Would Weaken Pressures
These attitudes would put
a lid on undue rises of either
the wage curve or the prife
curve. Hence they would
weaken some of the pres
sures which have helped to
push the market up through
buying by investors who
could expect rising corporate
incomes to be reflected in
rising earnings and increasing
stock values; by some of those
who regarded common stocks
as a hedge against inflation.
As a result, they either do
not buy any more stocks for
the present, or may sell some
of what they have and per
haps go into other fields of
investment.
This concept has its dis
senters. The Shields survey
this week commented that
with elections coming up in
November, it seemed likely
the administration would do
whatever it could to support
and stimulate business.
Lost Youth Found

old youth lost in the Scout
Lake area near here for al
most 24 hours was safe today.
Michael George, Clatskanie,
was found Thursday after
noon after being the object of
an intensive search.
About 150 men searched for
the boy. His car was found
near the lake Wednesday
night.

Thi Miracle of the Rain,
And the Miracle of the Drip
It has occurred so frequent
ly over such a long period of
time, and is apparently so
very simple that- no one
would credit it with magical
properties. Few realize it is
actually a miracle that occurs
not in spite of us but for us,
and the lives of all living
things the magic of rain.
If you are going on a pic
nic or have a day planned to
shoot a game of golf, a steady
rain may make you angry. If
you have flowers or crops
that are suffering for water,
then rain becomes a blessing.
But regardless, rain is
magic. Seeping into the earth
it awakens sleeping seeds,
filling their dry tissues and
activating their ability to
grow and prosper. It soaks
into the bark of trees, soften
ing and feeding the unfeeling
wood. It revives the wilting
plant. It cleans the very air.
It brings life itself to man and
all the humbler animals. ,
Source of Worry
To the lady with the new
hairdo or dress or the man
with the fancy suit, rain can
be a worrisome thing.
Some will avoid a single
drop at all costs. Just watch
"exhausted" but otherwise

make a dash for it out
through the drip from above.
Some will figure out the
regularity of the drip . . . take
the scientific or statistical
angle of the imagined prob
lem. They may even become
so serious they will count the
seconds between drips, pre
paring themselves to dash out
in between them. It's a good
