Parents Invited To Fairview Institute
Parents of mentally retard
ed children have been invited
to attend an institute Friday
and Saturday, May 11 and 12,
at Oregon Fairview Home, Sa
lem, according to Mrs. Robert
Minear, local member of the
Governor's visitation commit
tee to Fairview Home.
The institute, the 11th held
for parents of mentally retard
ed children, is Jointly sponsor
ed by the Oregon Fairview
Home, of which Dr. J. M.
Pomeroy is superintendent,
by the mental health section
of the Oregon state board of
health, with Dr. John Water
man, director, and by the Ore
gon Association for Retarded
Children, with Mrs. John
Schreiber, Portland, president.
The conference will con
vene at 9 a.m. Friday with a
panel speaking on "Education
and Training for the Retard
ed." Panel members will in
clude Dr. Glen Purdom Jr.,
special education consultant
for the state department of
education, Dr. James Lent of
the university of Oregon, and
Mrs. Mary Simmons, special
class teacher.

Republican nomination for
county assessor in Tuesday's
primary. He ran against his
boss and he lost. County As

"not ethical" for his assistant
to run against him.
