Ashland Couple Observes
60th f bedding Anniversary

Ashiand - A reception from
three to live o'clock Sunday
afternoon, April 29 observed
the 60th wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mrs. George E.
Wright, 555 Litway street,
AshlanS. The event took place
in the Bellview Grange hall.
Eight of the couple's nine
children were present for the
occasion and other relatives
of the couple from the valley
and from out-of-town also at
tended.
Mr. and Mrs. Wright weie
married on April 29, 1902 in
Hebron, Nebraska, and moved
to northern California and
southern Oregon in 1924
George C. Wright of Santa
Ana, Calif., a son, was unable
to attend. He had visited his
parents the previous week
since he could not be here for
the anniversary date,
The children who attended
are Mrs. L. G. Sweet, Escon-
dido, Calif., Charles Wright
Happy Camp, Calif., Mrs. Ed
ward Ekwall and Claude
Wright, both of Ashland,
Frank Wright, Mrs. Roy He
witt, Lloyd Wright and Hugh
Wright, all of Medford. Fami
lies of the children also were
present.
Other relatives from oul-of-town
were Mr. and Mrs. Al
bert Wright, Denver, Colo.,
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S.
Wright, Santa Ana, Calif., Mr.
and Mrs. Gilbert Wright, Tal
ent, and L. A. Wright, Klam
ath Falls, all brothers of Mr.
Wright; and Mrs. Martha
Rogers of Santa Ana, a sister
of Mrs. Wright, and the only
close relative of Mrs. Wright
in her own family.
Of special interest was the
fact that the honored couple
became great-great grandpar
ents for the first time the day
previous to their anniversary,
when their great-granddaughter,
Mrs. Robert Stoft of
Oceanside, Calif., became the
mother of a son, Edward,
The Wrights have 17 grand
children, eight great - grand
children and the one great-great-grandchild.

Plan Luncheon
A no-host luncheon at Med
ford hotel at 12:00 noon will
precede the stated meeting of
Zuliema temple, Daughters of
the Nile, on Saturday, May 12.
The business session will be
held at Medford Masonic tem
ple at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Charles Cook and Mrs.
Ralph McKay, luncheon co
chairmen, ask that those
planning to attend make reser
vations before 5 p.m. Wednes
day, May 9. Members may
telephone Mrs. Cook at SPring
2- 9617 or Mrs. McKay, SPring
3- 1695.
The meeting will be the last
spring session for the organi
zation, which does not meet
during June, July or August.
Final arrangements will be
made for sending the temple's
delegates to supreme session
at Des Moines from Sunday,
June 10, through Thursday,
June 14. Zuliema temple will
be represented by its queen,
Mrs. Chester Stonecypher,
Tulelake, Calif., and Mrs.
Murray S. Gardiner, Medford.

to attend is Mrs. George
Bryant, Coquille, a past
queen.

grandchildren attended the
open house, and four of the
great grandchildren were
there.
During the open house Mrs.
Claude Wright poured coffee
and after Mrs. Wright had
made the initial cut of the
wedding cake, Mrs. Rogers
and Mrs. Stoft continued the
serving.
Miss Rosalie Hewitt, a
granddaughter, had charge of
the guest book.
The serving table was dec
orated with spring flowers
and photographs of the couple
at the time of their wedding
and a recent one of them
taken especially for the oc
casion. A family dinner preceding
the open house was attended
by 46 persons.
