Announced
Prospect Mr. and Mr.
Howard A. Bishop arc living
in Prospect, following their
wedding April 21 in The
Dalles, Ore. The bride 1 the

are of Prospect.

be held in the new St. Paul's
Ipiscopal church in The
Miles, was performed by the

Catholic Rites IV A Pair
Miss Karen Frances Van
Dyck became the bride of
David L. Pitts in a ceremony
held April 28 at Sacred Heart
Catholic church. The Very
Rev. Carl Mai officiated at the
wedding and read the nuptial
mass.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van Dyck,
2170 Barnett road, and the
bridegroom's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Gregory Pitts, 665
Pittvlew road, Central Point.
Some 300 relatives and
friends attended the 10
o'clock morning ceremony.
White Easter lilies were at the
altar for the wedding. Miss
Marilyn Guldan played the
organ wedding music.
Mr. Van Dyck escorted his
daughter to the altar. She
wore a waltz length dress of
French lace and nylon net
over taffeta. Her matching
lace bolero had long sleeves
and her fingertip length veil
of illusion was held by a seed
pearl crown. She carried an
heirloom handkerchief be
longing tu Mrs. B. L. Hunter
and a bouquet of white carna
tions and red rosebuds.
Miss Linda Van Dyck was
maid of honor for her sister.
Bridesmaid was Rita Van
Dyck, another sister. They
wore princess style red taf
feta frocks trimmed with
white lace and carried red and
white carnation nosegay bouquets.
Donald Pitts, Myrtle Creek,
served as best man, and seat
ing the guests were Douglas
Van Dyck, brother of the
bride and Steven Miller.
Groomsman was Stanley Van

reception was held at the
Girls Community club. White
lilies, red tulips and pansies
decorated the rooms for the
event, Mrs. P. E. Dyck, Port
land, cut the wedding cake

She was assisted by Mrs. C.
A. Waldien, Portland, and
Miss Constance Sokolowski
presided at the punch bowl.
Miss Dorothy Ward poured
coffee. Mrs. Donald Pitts,
Myrtle Creek, was in charge
of the guest book and Miss
Ann and Miss Rose Pitts were
at the gift table.
Hostesses were Mrs. R. J.
Batzer, Mrs. Floyd Darland,
Mrs. Sophie Sokolowski and
Mrs. R. A. Naumes.
Following the reception a
dinner was held for members
of the families and the out of
town guests at the home of
the bride's parents. About 60
persons attended.
The couple traveled to the
Seattle World's fair along the
coast, the bride wearing a
lime green sharkskin dress
with white coat and lime
green flowered hat with white
accessories. They are making
their home in Mountain
Home, Idaho, where the bride
groom is stationed with the
U. S. Air Force.
The bride attended St.
Mary's High school and was
the dental assistant for Dr. E.
R. Janish, Seattle. Mr. Pitts
attended Canyonvllle High
school and is in the United
Slates Air Force.
Among the out of town
guests attending the wedding
were Mr. Dyck, Portland; Mr.
Waldien and family, and Mr.
and Mrs. Donald McGallalrd,
all Portland; Mr. and Mrs.
Homer Kessler and family,
Brookings; Mr. and Mrs. Clar
ence Grunst, Canyonville, and
Mrs. Howard Bishop and fam
ily. North Bend.
Prior to the wedding the
bride-elect was honored at a
shower given by Miss Soko
lowski and Miss Ward. Some
20 guests attended.
Chapter Plans
Men's night will be held
by Reamrs chapter. Order of
the Eastern Star, at a stated
meeting Thursday, May 10.
During the evening the chap
ter will honor mothers.
