Mrs.W. E, Thompson posed at a centuryold piano during a tea which observed her 90th birth
day anniversary April 26. Mrs. Thompson was' Margaret Chavner and the tea was held in the
stately old Chovner family home built in 1891 on the ranch near Gold Hill which the family has
owned for more than-100 years. The honored woman,, who studied at the New England Con
servatory of Music, still occasionally plays the piano.

In the gay spirit of the Second Alley Art show, held last
week end in connection with the Pear Blossom Festival,
Mrs. John (Marilyn) Briggs, Ashland artist, posed with
; one of the pieces of sculpture which she entered in the
show. Mrs. Briggs is known mainly for her oil paintings.
