mothers' tea and fashion show
will be staged by girls of
Hanby Elementary school's
seventh and eighth grade
homemaking classes on Thurs
day, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the
multi-purpose room at Patrick
Elementary school.
Mrs. Beth Ness, homemak
ing teacher, said a Dutch
theme will be carried out in
an "Old Dutch Garden." It is
an invitational affair due to
the large number of girls in
the seventh and eighth grade
classes. Invitations are in the
form of a Dutch shoe.

Open House Set
Mrs. E. H. Loveness will
show colored slides of a trip
to Ireland, Scotland. Norway
and of the Brussels World
Fair at the Senior Activity
center Monday, April 30, at
1 p.m.
The pictures of the fair will
show exhibits from many
countries and are intended to
give those who attend an idea
of what to expect should thev
attend the Seattle World's
Fair.
Senior activity center mem
bers will participate in a num
ber of coming events, and
several members of the paint
ing classes took part in the
Alley Art exhibit held April
28 in connection with the
Pear Festival.
Also members of the paint
ing classes are preparing pic
tures to enter in the annual
open house and art exhibit
to be held May 13 at the
center.
The Saturday painting class
will meet May 5 at 1 p.m.,
with Mrs. Ruby Twedcll as
director.
On Wednesday, May 2, the
Senior orchestra will play for
a meeting of the Ashland
Women's Civic club of the
Oregon Federation of Wom
en's clubs at their clubhouse
in Ashland.
The group's regular prac
tice period will be held
Thursday, May 3 during the
afternoon, at the center. Ed
ward Root has directed the
group for the past four years
and extends an invitation to
others who wish to join the
orchestra.
Classes in Spanish meet
regularly each Monday and
Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12
noon under the direction of
Walter Hatch.
Hosts and teachers of the
various classes are to meet
Wednesday, May 3, at 11 a.m.,
at the center, to plan a pro
gram for open house, which
will open the festivities of
Senior Citizens week in this
area.
Toastmasters
Entertained;
Contest Today
Medford Toastmaster's club
members were entertained at
a dinner meeting Wednesday
evening by members of the
Toastmistress club. The event
was held at Kim's restaurant.
Mrs. W. E. Acord presided
and Mrs. C. E. Goodwin was
topi c-mistress. Two-minute
talks were assigned to both
men and women.
Toastmastcr of the evening
was Walter Nunley. He intro
duced the speakers who were
Jack Harding, Mrs. Elmer
Ness, Dan Hull and Mrs. C. H.
Redmond.
Other officers who took
part were Mrs. Thomas Lor
enze, who gave the invoca
tion and led the pledge; J. M.
Spangler, who was time
keeper; Miss Voda Brower,
lexicologist; Mrs. J. W. Poage,
grammarian; Mrs. C. A.
Thatcher speech evaluator,
and Mrs. George Watson, pro
gram evaluator.

ed concerned plans for the
next speech contest set for to
ri a y at Winchester. Mrs.
Poage will represent the Med
ford Toastmistress club.
Nine vistors attended the
meeting. Bouquets of tulips
and driftwood decorated the
dinner tables.

visit at a meeting of Warren
Assembly of the Order in the

zanne Knudscn received the
degrees of the order.
Mrs. Martin complimented
the assembly on the progress
made since she helped insti
tute the assembly in July,
