bride of Stephen Cartley
Powell in nine o'clock eve
ning rites read April 20 in the
Central Point Church of
Christ.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrn. Jean M. Shelley
of 5.16 Oak street, Central
Point, and the bridegroom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. F.
A. Powell, Jackson, Tenn.
The ceremony took place in
the church for which the
bride's father is the minister
and Mr. Shelley, who gave his
daughter in marriage, read
the rites. About 100 guests
attended the wedding and re
ception in which four sets of
twins participated.
Miss Darlene Shelley, a sis
ter of the bride, was maid of
honor and bridesmaids were
Miss Linda Sutton, miss t-ar-ol
Ellis, and Miss Patty Shel
ley, another sister of the
bride.
The flower girls, Celia and
Cecile DeJanvier, are twin
daughters of Mr. and Mrs.
Gc-ald DeJanvier of Central
Point, and the ring bearers,
Jerry and Joel Danikcn, are
the twin sons of Mr. and Mrs.
Herbert Danikcn, Medford.
Larry Gilliam of Napa,
Calif., an uncle of the bride
groom, served as best man
and Lcland Lyon and Fred
Sutton scaled the guests.

gown of net and lace over
salin was designed with a fit
ted bodice and long sleeves.
Her elbow length veil was
held from a jeweled crown
and she carried a bouquet of
stephanotis encircling a white
orchid. 4
The bride's attendants wore
matching blue satin sheath
dresses with lace nverskirts
and hats to match. They car
ried bouquets of white carna
tions. Baskets of white stock dec
orated the church. Mrs.
James Sinclair, of Ashland,
played the wedding music and
accompanied her husband,
and his twin brother, John
Sinclair, who sang, .lames

The bride is a graduate of
Crater High school and is em
ployed as a legal secretary in
law offices in San Jose. The
bridegroom, a graduate of
Napa High school, now is a
student at the San Jo?e Bible
college, .studying for the min
istry. He is employed by
Lee Brothers of San Jose.
For their wedding trip, the
bride chose a yellow linen
suit and white orchid corsage.

will attend the 30th annual
meeting of the Oregon Home
Economics Extension council
on the Oregon State universi
ty campus on May 1, 2 and
3. Miss Joan Bcasley, Jackson
county home extension agent,
will also attend.
The theme of the meeting
is "Home the Foundation
of Citizenship." At the Tues
day evening banquet homes
in other lands will be fea
tured. International farm
youth exchangees and ex
change delegates will talk
about the countries they have
visited and represent.
Scholarships will be pre
sented at the Wednesday
luncheon; one of them will
be the Ethel K. Lathrop schol
arship. Mrs. Lathrop, a long
time Jackson county resident,
helped organize the State Ex
tension council and was one
of the early state presidents.
