The adjusted rates, determined as
described above by application of
tentative rates, base indices, and
quarterly average indices, shall be
reduced by the amount of the fol
lowing road amortization rate
deficits: Douglas-fir $1.53; sugar
pine and western white pine $2.04;
ponderosa pine SI .82: white fir
and other species $0.64 to arrive
at adjusted rates for the quarterly
period. In no event, however,
shall the payment rates for each
qunrtcr be less than the base
rates as stated above. When the
adjusted rates by species are lower
than the base rates, the difference
between the total dollar value of
the timber cut at adjusted rates
and at base rates will be recorded
for each species. The stumpage
rale for a species will not be in
creased above the base rate until
the subsequent adjusted rates
above the base rate will develop
an accumulated total dollar value
for the species in excess of the
recorded accumulated difference.
Sealed bids will be publicly opened
and posted, at the office of the
F'irest Supervisor, at 2:00 P.M.. on
May 28. 19R2. All those who sub
mitted a satisfactory sealed bid
will be permitted immediately to
continue auction bidding. A money
order, bank draft, cashier's or
certified check in the sum of
S 700 00 must accompany each bid,
to be applied to the purchase price,
refunded, or retained for applica
tion to any claim for damages,
aecorriing to the conditions of sale.
It requested by the purchaser,
contract terms will permit felling
of timber in advance of payment
up to the value of the perform
ance bond. If an oral bid is de
clared to be high at the closing
ot the auction, the bidder must
inimcrtiately confirm the oral bid
bv submitting it in writing on a
Forest Service bid form. The right
to meet any and all bids is re
served. Forest Service bid forms
for use in submitting sealed bids
and full information concerning
the timber, the conditions of sale
and the submission of bids should
