capped during ceremonies
conducted by the Southern
Oregon Dental assistants
Thursday, April 26 at 8 p.m.,
in the Red Cross building.
Dr. Bruce L. Turner, ad
viser, will present each young
woman with her cap. The
caps are awarded to the wom
en as a result of their mem
bership in the dental assist
ants association and employ
ment in dental assistant work.
The public is invited to at
tend the ceremonies.
Refreshments will be serv
ed. Mrs. Mary Johnson, presi
dent of the association, is in
charge of general plans.

Forty guests attended a pre
Easter luncheon given by Mrs.
Harry Fitzpatrick at her home
at 2212 Buena Vista drive,
Monday, April 16. Cohostess
was Mrs. Joseph E. Barrett.
The event was given as a
benefit for the local auxiliary
to the National Association of
Letter Carriers.
Pink champagne was serv
ed to the guests at tables on
the patio as they arrived by
Mrs. Netta Rector. The guests
then were escorted into the
living and dining area dec
orated in an Easter theme, and
luncheon, consisting of Chi
nese foods prepared by the
hostess, was served. Mrs.
Lynn Mathews assisted in
serving and Mrs. Chester
Ernst, who is Japanese, served
tea. She was dressed in a tra
ditional kimono and obi.
Tables were decorated with
panorama Easter eggs which
had been made especially by
Mrs. Fitzpatrick and which
were given as table prizes. An
Easter cake in the form of an
egg, also made by Mrs. Fitz
patrick, was given to Mrs.
Arthur Johnson.
Featured at the luncheon
were Easter hats decorated
and worn by the guests.
Mrs. Budd Gail and Mrs.
Chester Silliman acted as
judges for the hats and select
ed the hat worn by Mrs. Carl
Pearson as the prettiest, Mrs.
Mathews as the funniest and
Mrs. Elvin Boswell's as the
most decorative.
A hat worn by Mrs. Mal
colm Cady received a great
deal of comment. The hat was
designed with a small wire
cage holding a live baby
chicken.

Prom Date
Announced
The Medford High school
junior-senior prom is sched
uled this year for May 5 at
8 p.m., in the boys' gymna
sium. Mike Callan, a junior,
is chairman for the event. The
theme is being kept a secret.
The prom queen will be an
nounced during the event.
Decorations will be direct
ed by Miss Sherry Koblik.
Music will be furnished by
the Bob Anderson quintet.

To Be Visitor;

May meeting of Rogue Valley
Music Teachers.

visit at the April meeting of

light room of the Rogue val
ley Country club on Thurs
day, April 26, when the Amer
ican Cancer society will spon
sor a silver tea and jewel
erama. The jewelry will be
on display from 2 to 4:30
o'clock in the afternoon and
from 7:30 to 9:30 o'clock in
the evening, so that both men
and women may view it.

laway were wed in rites read
April 14 at 1 o'clock in the
afternoon by Francis Gallatin,
Ashland justice of the peace.
The ceremony was performed
in the new home of the bride's
son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Norris,
Jacksonville.
Mrs. Nancy Goodcn, Port
land, daughter of the bride
groom was matron of honor.
and Kenneth Norris served as
best man.
For her wedding the bride
wore a light blue suit with
white accessories. Her corsage
was a white orchid. Mrs.
Goodcn wore a coral colored
dress also with white acces
sories and a white orchid cor
sage. The Norris home was dec
orated with baskets of daffo
dils, apple blossoms and other
spring flowers.
About 25 persons attended
the ceremony and about 50
guests were at the reception
in the Norris home, given by
the bride's sisters. Mrs. Al
bert Hackert and Mrs. O. C.
Parker, both of Jacksonville.
Mrs. Hackert poured and Mrs.
Parker served the wedding
cake.
The bride has lived her en
tire life in Jacksonville and
attended Jacksonville schools.
Until recently she was em
ployed as a nurse at Mitchell
sanitarium.
The bridegroom is formerly
from Orofino, Idaho. He at
tended the University of Ore
gon and is a construction en
gineer with Cornell, Howland,
Hayes and Merryfield, Cor
vallis, consulting engineers.
The couple is living in Jack
sonville and plans to move
soon to Pendleton, where Mr.
Callaway will be associated
with a construction project.
