Nursery To Have
Exhibits at Fair .
Ornamental Nursery, Cen
tral Point, plans two exhibits
at the Crater Lions Sports
fair and Home and Garden
show.
One display will be land
scaping for a model home
which also will be on display,
and the other will be a booth
attended by Mrs. F. R. Faulk
ner to Introduce the nursery
and its services.
Mr. and Mrs. Faulkner are
owners of Ornamental Nur
sery. The nursery provides com
plete landscape designing,
planting and information con
cerning planting and growing,
acording to the Faulkners.
During its four years in the
valley, the nursery has grown
from a small operation to one
of the valley's leading nur
series. The Faulkners plan to
increase the nursery facilities
this year.

CULTIVATES GARDEN James E. Walker, Phoenix, uses
a power tiller to prepare his garden for another season. He
raises corn, tomatoes, radishes and has some small fruit
trees in his back yard. Walker, a retired railroad man, raises
enough fruit and vegetables for hie own tabic and .that of
the neighbor behind him. He repairs and sharpens garden
tillers and lawn-mowers to round out his pension.
ATTRACTIVE ROSEBED Rosebed along driveway at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Nelson, 1132 Mira Mar dr.,
Medford, is covered with white crushed silica, giving i'. a
neat appearance and at the same time keeping back weeds.
Another advantage Is that one can walk in the area right
after watering without, getting muddy shoes. Mrs. Nelson
above, admires one of the newly-planted bushes that are en- '
circled with a metal ring that keeps the rock away from
the base of the plant.
Judo Academy To Have Exhibition
The Judo Academy will
demonstrate the arts of ju
jitsu, judo and karate at the
Crater Lions Sportsfair and
Home and Garden Show. The
exhibition will be held be
tween 3 and 4 p.m. on May 6
and 7.
The Judo Academy was
started three years ago in
Medford by Tom Ball, a stu
dent at Southern Oregon col
lege. He received his train
ing at Chico State college.
Under the supervision of
Ball and Dr. Paul Rutter, the
35 members meet at the acad
emy in Phoenix Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays
each week.
