Washington-IUPD-There is a
lot of talk these days about
organizations that-advocate a
rtfWI fixed point of
view
S o m e of
these - groups
are described
as "ultra" con
servative and
some are de
scribed as '"ul
t r a" liberal.
It occurred
to me that
there might be a lot of people
, like myself who don't fall
into either category, mainly
, because we don't feel ,very
strongly about anything.
Rather than be left out en
tirely, I think what we should
do is get together and form
an "ultra" middle-of-the-road
organization. It would give
those. of us who never take
sides ,of any issue some place
to hang our hats.
; If nobody else wants to
volunteer to serve as founder
of the group, I am prepared
to offer a few suggestions that
might get the ball rolling.
First a Name ,
The first thing that any or
ganization must do is find an
appropriate name for itself.
For the group I have in mind,
this task is fairly simple.
. I propose that it be named
In honor of the first man ever
killed in an automobile acci
dent while driving down the
center lane of a highway.
. Unfortunately I don't know
the identity of that distin
guished casualty, so I have
1 had to invent a name to rep
resent him. Let our group be
known, then, as the "George
Avocado Society."

Ashland - The Tempests, a

sponsor and play for a dance
Saturday, April 29, from 8:30
p.m. to midnight in Britt ball
room. ' t
The Tempests will feature
rock and roll, rhythm and
blues, and vocal selections.
The group has completed a
number of recordings, one of
which is currently being fea
tured in the Seattle, Wash.,
area. Instruments used by the
group include bongos, guitars,
piano, drums, trumpet, and
maracas.
Townspeople are invited to
attend the dance.

Drive for Neutralism
The aim of G.A.S. will be
to force citizens of an opini
onated nature to join us in a
neutral corner. -There are a
number of ways to .accom
plish this.
Suppose, for example, that
Congress is considering
new immigration bill, Some
people would claim the meas
ure would admit too many
immigrants; others w o u 1 d
claim , it , wouldn't admit
enough. .
The G.A.S. would then
step into the controversy and
brand both sides' as "immigra
tionists." This term, as far as
I know, doesn't mean any
thing, which blends in with
the society's policy of being
deliberately vague
