Oak Grove School
Mrs. Ruth Dunn's second
grade wrote stories about the
different types of homes In
which we ' live.' Keith Lee

v Donald Wilson, in Mrs.
Ruth Urie's fourth grade,
drew some cartoon-characters.
Some of them are Casper,
Bugs Bunny, and Elmer Fudd.
They are very good and we
put them on our bulletin
1 board for display. I
. Our room put on a play for
Easter called the "Capture of
the Easter Rabbit." The cos
tumes were made by Mrs.
Urie. ..... .
. : We made some murals for
' the play. One mural was a
castle and the other was a
forest scene with flowers mid
a wolf.
-- We have learned some
round' dances that represent
. different sections of our coun
try. The dances are the Okla
homa Mixer, the Virginia
Reel, California Schottische.
and the Glow Worm, ::
Mrs. Dena DeKortc'f room
won the room count at the
last PTA meeting. But jlnce
they had won a few times be
fore they gave the Ice cream
to Mrs. Grace Kirtley'i room
because they came in second.
In science, they' are study
ing about bees and ants. Jerry
Beliveau brought some ants
to school.
Each class member has had
a chance to write a thank-you
letter to the ' Eagle Point
Grange for the trees. Every
child in our school received
an evergreen tree. , .
. The fourth grade girls were
proud of their volleyball vicr
tory 'over the , fifth grade
girls.
One of the part time' activi
ties in Mrs. DeKorte's room
is a musical bottle instrument.
Mr. Jacobs started the chil
dren on the project when he
put on an assembly.

lowstone National park.
In English we . have a
homonymn contest. Leslie
Wievesiek won. She had 220
pairs. Terry Lawless had 105
and Carol Dykstra had 72

Six Students Are Named Winners in Plymouth Contest
Six Medford High . school
students have been named
winners in the local Plymouth
Trouble Shooting contest held
at the high school recently.'
The contest, one of 30 in
the U.S. and seven in Oregon,
is designed to give recognition
and encouragement to young
men who have shown "out
standing talent" as automobile
technicians.
-Winning teams were Jim
Sevcik, sophomore, and Clar
ence Lamp, junior, first place;
Carl Luckterhand and ' Bill
Strawn, both seniors, second;
and Joe LeFaive and Warren
Jackson, seniors, third.
Trophies Presented
Trophies for the winning
teams were presented to the
school, and the six students
are eligible to, compete in the
state-wide contest. May 19.
Each of the 16 local youths
participating received car
plaques, and members, of the
three top teams also were pre
sented tools.: , ! . '
This is the first year that
Medford has participated in
this type of event, made pos

The April 13 meeting of the
Mix-Ettes 4-H Cooking club
was held at the home of Mrs.

They were served with cof
fee to the guests. Plans for
the 4-H fair were discussed.

cently to members of the dOC
foundation at an informal
luncheon held here.
Discussed were Foundation
policies regarding the use of
funds and their collection, fi
nancial reports, and develop
ment purposes. Dr. Stevenson
noted that development pur
poses would be concerned with
construction of buildings not
supported by taxpayers'
funds,; promotion of various
non-supported activities of the
college, . such as athletics,
and the supporting of college
publications : for which no
state funds were alloted. -
