Early Establishment
The Domestic laundry was
first established in 1909, and
is one of Medford's early busi

of the oldest laundries In the
state. The plant was exten

and was rebuilt. The Dumas's
purchased the laundry in
1950.
To minimize the danger of
future fires, the new building
Is now equipped with an auto

mas family who assist in the
operation of the laundry are
Al Dumas's two sons Murrey
and John Dumas. Murrey is

cleaning establishment. .
The new plant : was built
with the future growth of the

Minimum Wage
Due Senate Test
Washington - (UPD -' Presi
dent Kennedy's $1.25 an hour
minimum wage bill, already
over a big Senate hurdle, to

A vote was expected on an
amendment by Sen. A. S.
Mike Monroney (D-Okla.) to
reduce coverage of the admin

Administration - forces re
fused to predict the outcome.
The target of the amendment
is a measure calling for ex

Most of the new workers
are in retail and service in
dustries, and Monroney said
the administration bill "shock
ed" his conscience, because it
would apply to businesses
grossing more than $1 million
a year even if they operate
within a single state.
His amendment would trim
about 1.6 million of the new
workers off the Kennedy bill
by stipulating a business must
operate in more than one state
to. come under the law.
The administration bill
Tuesday got past substitute
plan offered by conservatives.
Tuesday night, Dan Smoot,
radio commentator and pub
lisher of "the Dan Smoot re

vention that "the silence of
conservatives is a deadly sin."
He said the women should

A House education subcom
