Water Supply
Report Presented
A report designed to help
plan the city of Medford's
future water supply system
was in the hands of city of
ficials today.
Called the "Feasibility of
Water Supply for the Medford
Fringe Area," the report was
prepared by Cornell, How-
land. Hayes and Merryfield
Consulting Engineers lor tne
Medford water commission,
The chief purpose of the re
port is to furnish information
which will assist the commis
sion in determining whether
future water service will be
contained within the area now
supplied, expanded to serve
the entire Bear Creek valley,
reduced to provide only
for the future needs of .the
city within the present city
limits.
With the information con
tained in the report the com
mission hopes to continue its
plans for providing an ex
panded water supply system

that the city will , be using
the maximum water available
from its Big Butte Springs
water supply system by 1967.
Moratorium on
Fines' Opens HLW
A week-long "moratorium
on fines" for over-due books
has been, announced by Omar
Bacon, librarian of the Public
Library of Medford and Jack
son County, to mark the open
ing of National Library Week
this week.
Bacon, said this "spring bar
gain" for those having books
past the date due is being used
to encourage the return of the
books so other persons may
borrow the missing books.
At the present time, about
500 books are considered
overdue at the Medford Li
brary. With 28,000 books with
drawn in March alone, tne
percentage of books that are
delinquent is relatively small,
Bacon added.
During the period of "mora
torium," Bacon emphasized
that no questions regarding
books returned would be ask
ed, and no records would be
kept concerning the name ot
the person returning tne book
During the observance
Library Week, the local
brary staff will have special
displays of books and conduct
other activities.
