next Grange visitation would

Grange April 21, and all
members were reminded that
the visitation would be at
Eagle Point May 2. Master

mona Grange would meet at
Lake Creek April 22 at iu
. a.m. All ladies are to bring
either salad or dessert.

Gold Hill Grind
Roscoe Roberts, Medford,
county Grange deputy, was
a guest of honor at the regu
lar session of ; Gold Hill
Grange April' 8. He was con
ducted to a seat beside the
worthy master, A. A. Walker.

magazine warning about leav
ing Insecticides where chil
dren can get them.
The meeting April 20 will
be open house, and th public
is invited to hear speech con
test students at 7 p.m. Com
peting will pe first and sec
ond choice and two alternates
from each of the four divi
sions. The selections will be
poetry, humorous readings,
serious readings and debate.
. The final contest and choosing
of the winners will be held
at Crater High school April
22. ' .
The Grange hopes to hold
summer recreation programs
to help youngsters raise mon
ey for summer camps. Grang
; ers are supporting the Flood
Control and Water Resources
association. Ralph James re
ported that It has been "quite
an uphill climb" with so
many different organizations
pulling In opposite directions,
but under a new law that has
been passed all are now pull
Ino together and the dam will
be supported by the Isaak
Walton league.
Jackson County Grange
council will meet at Gold Hill
Granse Saturday , and all
women are asked to bring
sandwiches. Butte Falls
Grange is giving a crab feed
and dance Saturday, April 22.
Upper Appltgate
The lecture program for Up
per Applegate Grange will
be presented at 8 p.m. preced
ing the regular meeting Fri
day, April 14, and will be
open to the public.
Pictures of Australia will
be shown by Mrs. Gilbert and
flowers native to Australia
will be displayed. Members
of garden clubs are especial
ly invited to the program.
The resignation of. Evelyn
Jones from the executive
committee was accepted, and
Blanche Merrlman was elect
ed to flu the vacancy. The
quarterly report was read and
accepted.
Roberts performed an in
stallation ceremony for offi
cers who were absent at the
time of the regular installa
tion. Installed were lecturer,
Gertrude Eberhart; Ceres,
Edith Martin; chaplain, Nora
Walt; Pomona, Josephine
Loeffler; executive committee
member, Blanche Merrlman.
The lecturer's program con
sisted of a songfest.
. Roberts said the Gold Hill
Grange Is one of the outstand
ing Granges of the county,
but It Is the only one in Jack
son county that has the Ju
venile Grange meetings on a
separate night from regular
Grange. He recommended
that Juvenile Grange meet on
the same night as regular
Grange.
Visitation night at Central
Point Grange will be April
21. Gold Hill visitation night
will be in October, i
Upper Rogue
Upper Rogue Grange mem
bers met recently with Over
seer Eda Torrance presiding
in the absence of Master How
ard Bishop. Herb Carlton re
ported on legislation, - and
Harold Barber reminded
members to read an article in
the Oregon Farmer regarding
picketing of farmers.
The Home Economics club
announced a meeting. Mrs. B.
Moore reported on education,
and Mrs. Caroline Harding re
ported on roads. Mrs. Bessie
Snodgrass was reported in the !
Rogue Valley Memorial hos
pital.
Mrs. iMcllt Barber was
elected to serve as Ceres for
the rest of the year following i
resignation of Mrs. Helen
Gumburt.
Cascade lodge and Nevita
chapter. Order of Eastern
Star, were granted permission
to hold a card party in the
hall Saturday April 22. The
next regular meeting May 4
will be the first held' on sum
mer hours, when meetings
will begin at 8:30 p.m. Mem
bers were urged to bring In
their sales slips.

tho SOth anniversary meeting
of Evergreen Grange in Doug
las county, which she attend
ed. Visitation night will, be
May 2 In Eagle Point; May 20
at Shady Cove; and April 22
for an all-day meeting of Po
mona at Lake Creek.

New Drive-In
Planned in Medford
A McDonald's self-service
hamburger drive-In is sched
uled for Medford as one of
125 new McDonald's units
planned for California, Ore
gon, Washington and Idaho.
Ray A. Kroc, the chain s
president, announced plans
this week for a major expan
sion of Its west coast ODera-
tlons. He did not reveal exact
locations of the new outlets.
The new drive-ins are to be
operated in the same pattern
as the 2S0 already in opera
tion -from neon-lighted rain
bow arch to the 10-item menu,
he reported.
