Foursquare Gives
Easter Schedule
The Easter service sched
ule has. been announced for
Foursquare church, 2200 Rob
erts rd.
The "Musical Moores" will
be featured in a 45-mlnute
musical program in the Sun
day morning service. The Jun
ior choir will sing. The 7:30
p.m, service will climax a
two week evangelistic serv
ice. At the evening service
the Moores will award two
placques, one to the man or
boy, and one to the lady or
girl, that has brought the
most visitors during the serv
ices. Each placque is person
ally autographed by John
Wesley and Sharon Loydean
Moore.
At the 9:45 a.m. Sunday
school hour each person tak
ing a guest will receive a
candy bar as well as the guest
attending. A trio will be sung
by Cherilyn, Maria and Bren
da, from the beginner's class
entitled, "We Want You to
Come to Our Sunday School."
Mrs. Loyd Rasmussen, su
perintendent of the Sunday
school, has announced that
the following Sunday will cli
max the contest that has been
in progress.
World Council To
Hold Essay Contest
"What does it mean for the
local congregation to say: I
believe in the Holy Catholic
Church?" This is the theme
of the third ecumenical prize
essay contest, sponsored by
the World Council of Church
es. The competition is open
to all ordained ministers un
der 40 years of age on Dec.
31, 1961, the date by which
entries must be postmarked.
Purpose, of the competition
is to encourage young clergy
and ministers in the study of
some of the central Biblical
and theological issues under
current ecumenical discussion
and to make available the best
results of their work.
First prize in the contest is
1000 Swiss francs ($230). Es
sayists are asked to describe
"the Biblical and theological
basis for preaching and teach
ing in a local church regard
ing the relationship of that
congregation to the Una
Sancta which we confess in
the creeds."

The talks will be illustrat

colored slides and curios will
be displayed at each service.

Peace Corps Lauded

Elgin, 111. - The head of the
Church of the Brethren
church youth volunteer move
ment this month applauded
the government's rapidly-developing
plans for a peace
corps, declaring that youth
can be the most effective car
riers of the best American
image aboard.
Dr. W. Harold Row, exec
utive secretary of the Breth
ren Service program, based
his view on the experiences
he has had since 1945 with
1,950 youth whom his agency
has placed in this country and
in 20 countries aboard. Many
of them have worked in tasks
similar to those proposed for
youth corps' members.
He urged that the chief end
of the peace corps be not as
sistance, but mutual contact.
The churchman averred that
the peace corps will work
only if It is devoid of dogma,
whether it be religious, eco
nomics, political, or techno
logical. He further stressed that the
overseas projects must help
people to achieve their own
objectives rather than to im
pose goals or institutions up
on them.
