Reward Offered
For Missing Judge
Portland (UPD A $1,000
reward was offered today to
the person or persons who
locate the body of Circuit
Judge Richard Anderson, miss
ing since March 19 on a light
plane flight from Lebanon to
Newport.
The reward was offered by
Ben Anderson, local attorney
and father of the judge.
Judge Anderson was last
heard from at 3:22 p.m. March
19 when he talked via radio
to the Eugene airport. Search
efforts have proved fruitless.
War II Plane
Wreckage Located
Port Moresby, New Guinea
-(UPD-The wreckage of a Unit
ed States World War II C47
transport with 14 bodies was
found Tuesday by ground
crews searching through the
central highlands of New Gui
nea for a light plane missing
since last week, it was report
ed today.
Reports from the search
crews said the fuselage of the
C47 was almost intact and the
remains of the men were
found inside. A jeep found
in the plane was reported as
being "in almost perfect condition."
The searchers also stum
bled on the wreckage of an
Australian World War II
Boomerang fighter plane with
its dead pilot still at the controls.

California Coast
Seashore Urged

Secretary Stewart L. Udall
urged Congress Tuesday to act
speedily to preserve the Point
Reyes Peninsula on the Cali
fornia coast as a National
Seashore.
"It is now a race between
subdividers and those who
would preserve a few of these
remaining natural areas for
the health, inspiration and en
joyment of the people of the
United States and, more im
portant, those who follow
us," Udall said in an appear
ance before the Senate sub
committee on public lands.
The subcommittee hearings
were on a bill to establish the
Point Reyes National Sea
shore about 30 miles north
west of San Francisco.

college here. Requirements
for the honor roll listing are
a minimum of 15 hours and
a 3.5 grade point average or
better.

Miss Matthews, a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Matthews,
is a freshman. Miss Gebhard,
a senior history major, is the

Work at Nursery
Girl Scout troop 40 Is
working on their First Class
requirements. Mrs. Ethel Ten-
nant of the Medford Nursery
school has been helping us.
We have ar taken turns for
several weeks going over aft
er school to help with the
children at the nursery.
For the citizens here and
abroad requirement we sent
a gift donation to the foreign
missions in Africa. Father Ilg
had given us the name of
Rev. Allan Camgwera in
Mwanza, Nyasaland, with a
snapshot of him which we
have in our troop scrap book.
Cherylee Becker wrote a let
ter to him enclosing our
check.
A very Interesting letter
was received from him and
read at our last meeting. He
was grateful for our assist
ance and explained that con
ditions there are very poor
due to the communists caus
ing trouble in their country.
They have had to close three
schools and are struggling to
keep the remaining schools
open.
He asked our prayers that
they be saved from commu
nism. The troop voted to send
him a spiritual "bouquet of
prayers" and each say spe
cial prayers for his intentions.
Patricia Compton was ap
pointed to write him another
letter.
The troop has attended
every Operation X program
at H e d r l c k Junior High
school winter and found them
very interesting. Much infor
mation covered will be help
ful knowledge for summer ac
tivities. Our troop is plan
ning a heritage hike this sum
mer from Little Switzerland
to Camp Low Echo at Lake
of the Woods and camp each
night along the way. Our
troop funds that we have
been saving the past years
from cookie and calendar
sales will be used to help fi
nance the trip.
Attend Programs
Requirements to go on this
trip are to have become a
First Class Scout and earned
the first aid badge. Most Of
us have chosen the out-of
doors as our major field. Most
of us have nearly completed
the hospitality badge.
On Girl Scout Sunday we
attended church, together
with our whole neighborhood.
After church Cherylee Beck
er, Patricia Compton, Dianne
Davy and Marlene Nouguier
was hostesses to the troop for
breakfast at Mrs. Arthur
Becker's home. They planned,
furnished, cooked and served
the breakfast, planned games,
and left Mrs. Becker s kitch
en in good order. After Easter

Mary Jacobson, Terry New
comb and Terry St. Germain
will serve a luncheon to com
plete the badge.

rior court jury ruled in favor
of Art Linkletter Tuesday to
support his claim actress Joan
Whitfield was truly hypno-tized-and
not pretending-on
his "People are Funny" TV
show.
Mrs. Madeline Dykes, 30, a
former rommate of Miss Whit
field, sought $10,000 in the
trial, saying that amount had
been promised by Linklet'.er
and producer John Gucdel to
anyone proving the hypno
tism stunt wds false.
The jury vote was 10-2 in
rejecting her suit. A three
fourths majority is all that is
needed in civil cases for a ver
dict. Mrs. Dykes claimed Miss
Whitfield told her after the
Feb. 1, 1958, show she was
just pretending but the actress
denied making such a state
ment when she testified.
