SUB-COMPACT ENTRY Studcbaker
Packard's entry in the sub-compact derby
will look like this artist's conception, ac
cording to Motor Life magazine. The car
was described as a 4 to 5 passenger air
cooled job with a rear engine and a 100-inch
wheclbase. Speculation is that the car will
have a 65 to 75 horsepower, four cylinder
engine. It is expected to appear next fall
with a probable price of under $2,000.

biologist for Pacific North
west Power Co., said during
cross-examination at Federal
Power Commission hearings
here Wednesday.
It was the third day of FPC
hearings on rival aplications
to build dams on the middle
Snake river. The Portland
hearings center on fish pas
sage facilities.
Hamilton was cross-examined
by Mrs. Evelyn N. Cooper,
chief counsel for Washington
Public Power Supply System,
applicant for a license for the
Nez Perce.
Hamilton said he believes
the facilities designed for the
High Mountain Sheep Dam
permit the proposed PNP dam
to be built without substantial
damage to the fishery re
source. ,
PNP wants to build the
Mountain Sheep above the
mouth of the Salmon river.

523 Deer Killed on
Illinois Highways

Illinois highways, according
to William T. Lodge, direc
tor of the Department of Con
servation. In 1960, conservation offi
cers reported 523 deer were
killed on Illinois highways.
Many more were hit and not
recovered. The 1960 highway
deer kill was 46 per cent
higher than the 477 killed on
the highways in 1959.

soldier on his way with 1,500
United Nations troops to the
Congo, heard his wife was
having a baby. Since he was
being transported on the
USS Bexar, named for the
Texas county, he sent word
to his wife to name the child
Bejardity, or Son of Bexar.
