Shady Cove Grange
The Shady Cove Grange
met in the Shady Cove school
gym with Master Cecil Kee
presiding.
The agricultural report was
on the new type of tomato,
and also on a new type of
strawberry plant.
The following committee
chairmen are to have full re
ports on May 6: Ed Houston,
fire hall; Mary Cassel, White
City; T. M. Littlefield, school;
Jenny Linden, disaster; Gloria
Bergren, mental hospital;
Viola Houston, city beautifica
tion. HEC chairman, Mrs. A. B.
Clark, stated the February
HEC meeting was at the
Charles Wells home on Crater
Lake highway. There was one
knitting class at the Cecil Kee
home. Another is planned, but
no date was set.
The lecturer's program was
honoring the chaplain's office.
Lecturer Edgar Vanderlip
gave several readings and
Chaplain Mary Cassel had a
tableau for her part.
Guests were Master and
Mrs. Ben Fulton and Mrs. Ed
monson of Butte Falls Grange.
Mrs. Cecil Kee and Mrs. T.
M. Littlefield were ushered
to the Masters station where
Master Kee presented each
with their National awards.
Mrs. Kee received her's for
her work as secretary and
Mrs. Littlefleld's was for her
duties as lecturer.
Refreshments were served
by Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Clark
and Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Cross.

Upper Applegate Grange
held visitation night with 75
visitors from other Granges,
and 54 local members, for a
total of 129, recently.
The following masters and
county deputy were escorted
to the Masters station: Ben Ful
ton, Butte Falls; Orie Moore,
Roxie Ann; Alva Walker,
Gold Hill; Robert Bitterling,
Eagle Point, and also Pomo
na Master; Lloyd Lacy, Phoe
nix; Charles Morehouse, Cen
tral Point; Jack Bierma, Grif
fin Creek; Cecil Kee, Shady
Cove; and Roscoe Roberts,
county deputy.
Leroy Offenbacher explain
ed the forming and operating
of the Rogue Valley Livestock
association. The finance com
mittee chairman reported that
an audit had been made of
the treasurer's books.

Williams Grange was host
to the Phoenix first and sec
ond deeree team, conducted
by Master D. Hendrickson,
Central Point.
The ceremony was opened
by Master W. W. Claypool,
Williams, with 107 members
and guests present.
There were 14 candidates to
receive first and second de
grees. Those entering the
Central Point Grange taking
the degree were Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Ricks and Miss Mari
lyn Watson;' Provolt Grange
candidates were Miss Ginger
Stone, Miss Kay Reeder and
Miss Carol Reeder, and from
Williams Grange, Mr. and
Mrs. L. W. Burks, Mr. and
Mrs. Wayne Dawson, Gregg
Dawson, Mr. and Mrs. Dow
II. Leeper and Denny Hyde.

ton was introduced as a
guest.

and master of Eagle Point

Sunny Valley.
The Sunny Valley youth
group attended to observe
degree work because of their
interest in forming a team. It
will be the first youth degree
team In Josephine county
when organized.

Approves Bond Issues
Eugene (UPD Bond Is
sues totaling $7.3 million to
finance campus building proj
ects were approved by the
State Board of High Educa
tion Tuesday.
The issues require no tax
money.
They include a new dormi
tory at Oregon State college;
two dorms, married student
housing and an addition to the
Student Union building at Or
egon; a dorm addition and
married student housing at
Eastern Oregon, and dorms at
OCE and Southern Oregon.
ELECTRA MAKERS SUED
Chicago - (UPD - Northwest
Airlines has filed a $2.5 mil
lion suit against the manufac
turers of an Electrn airliner
which disintegrated In the sky
near Tell City, Ind., and
plunged 65 persons to their
deaths.
