Jacksonville - Mrs. Homer
E. Rice, a registered nurse

will be the featured speaker
for the Fifth Lenten Mission
study programs to be held in
the Jacksonville First Pres
byterian church Thursday
evening.
Mrs. Rice shares in the
work of the Lilly Ried Holt
Memorial hospital which her
husband directs. She also
helps In church work, a wom
en's literacy project and a
weekday church school for
Moslem children.
The discussion groups,
which begin at 7:30 p.m., will
consider the subject,- "The
New Pattern of Mission." The
adults will be led by the Rev.
John C. Adams, minister of
. the Roseburg Presbyterian
church, while the young peo
ple will be led by Miss Pat
Shumard, Christian Education
director there.
The Rev. King K. Jones,
pastor, continues his series of
sermons on "The Death of
Christ when he preaches the

A THE GOSPEL IS GOD'S POWER UNTO SALVATION.

The word gospel means good tidings
or "good news". The gospel of Christ is
the good news of salvation through Christ.

Jesus: who shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction

C - TO OBEY THE GOSPELS IS TO OBEY THE COM
MANDS OF THE GOSPEL. The only things connected with the
gospel which can be obeyed are the commands of the gospel.
These commands are:
To Believe in Jesus as the Son of God. Mark 16:16
John 8:24; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 11:6.
To 'Repent of Sins. Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38. 17:30.
To confess Faith in Christ. Matthew 10:32; Romans
1 0: 1 0.
To Be Buried with Christ in Baptism. Mark 16:16- Acts
2:38; 8:38, 39; 22:16: Roman 6:3 i- r,Mm
3:27. Colossians 2:12.
