Eagle Point High School

Bonnie and Vonnie Goch
ring, former students at Eagle
Point, will be absent from the
school for the second semes
ter. The girls, with their
younger sister, Connie, will
join the Oregonian Traveling
Troup, an amateur talent
group that tours the North
west. . Bonnie and Vonnie will at
tend Marshall High school,
Portland.
Connie was elected State
Girls Athletic association sec
retary for Oregon.
The girls all plan to be back
in Eagle Point next year.
Climaxing a week's activi
ties, Linda Weitman, fresh
man candidate, was crowned
queen of the March of Dimes
drive during the dance follow
ing the Yreka basketball
game.
Alice Woolfolk, senior; was
runner-up with Joan Konopa
sek, sophomore, and Mary
Anne Elrod, junior, complet
ing the court.
The freshmen raised $119
for the drive. The school
total of $561 amounted to ap
proximately $1.20 per student
in school.
Dr. J). W. Berremen, assis
tant professor of physics at
the University of Oregon, was
guest speaker and advisor at
a science conference at Crater
High school recently. Five
physics students from Eagle
Point attended.
From Eagle Point were

,fer, Dick Hertager, Jim Ac
kerman, and Aedene Jensen
with Victor Hay, physics
teacher at the EPHS.
After school was dismissed,
Dr. Berreman met with teach
ers from the area to discuss
problems concerning the field
of p h y s i c s. Students from
Rogue River and Crater High
school were also present.
An initiation of new mem
bers was held and an activity
period and a basketball play
day was held at Southern Ore
gon college to highlight the
Eagle Point Girls Athletic as
sociation activities recently.
Revision of the school con
stitution and the completion
of the citizenship and scholar
ship plaques in the hall were
the main points for discussion
at the meeting of the student
council recently. ,
The meeting was presided
over by Tom Perdue.
The revision of the constitu
tion of the Eagle Point High
school student body was dis
cussed. A committee was ap
pointed to work on the re
vision. Members of the com
mittee include John Dunlap,
Joan Konopasek, and 11a Sat
tler with Aedene Jensen, as
assistant chairman, and Tom
Perdue, chairman.
Bringing citizenship and
scholarship plaques up to date
was proposed and discussed.
Aedene Jensen was appointed
to look into the matter and see
why the plaques were discon
tinued, as well as find out
what would have to be done
to bring them up to date.
Approximately 270 pounds
of clothing articles were gath
ered during World Clothing
week, with the freshman
class receiving the award for
getting the most clothing.
Freshmen brought in 120
pounds of clothing articles.
The seniors were second with
105 pounds, followed by the
juniors with 85, and the sopho
mores with 59 pounds.
Mrs. Frances Henry, li
brarian, was in charge of the
drive. She was assisted by
members of the National
Honor Society, who sorted,
weighed, and packed the
clothes.

Central Point Trail Blazers
The Central Point Trail
Blazers 4-H Horse club held
its monthly meeting at the
home of David Hopkins re
cently. Mrs. Whittle presented the
club with a new 4-H flag.

summer school which will be
held June 12 to 17 on the
campus of Oregon State col

skating party, which was held
Feb. 14, in which we invited I
the Central Point 4-H Beef
club. j
