A receptive audience of par-'i
ents and children enjoyed the
opening performance Friday
night of "Many Moons," by
James Thurber, which South
ern Oregon college students
presented in Churchill audi
torium. Members of the audience re
ported that the amusing play
was well done, with Thurber's
clever lines entertaining the
youngsters and their mothers
and fathers.
The 70 - minute fantasy is
sponsored by the Ashland and
Medford branches of the Am
erican Association of Univer
sity Women. Two perform
ances were given in Ashland
Friday and Saturday nights
and two more will be given at

N. D., and lived in that state for a time before coming to

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin N. Nel
son, 2488 Jacksonville high
way, were honored at an openj
house held Saturday, January
14, at the Assembly of God
annex. The event, attended by
over 100 friends and relatives,
marked the couple's 50th wed
ding anniversary.
. Hosts for the event were the
couple's sons, Kenneth, Fred
erick, Donald and Wesley, and
their daughter, Mrs. Rolland
Myers. Assisting in the serv
ing of refreshments and re
ceiving guests were the chil
dren's families and friends.
Relatives and friends en
tertained throughout the after
noon with vocal and instru
mental numbers. Of special in
terest, was a song by Mrs. Wal
lace Nylander, the words of
which she wrote for the hon
'ored guests; and a poem that
was written for them by Rev.
J. E. Rasmussen, Spokane,
Wash.
Among the messages ' re
ceived was a telegram from
the Rev. Wildon Colbaugh,
former pastor of the Medford
Assembly of God church, and
Mrs. Colbaugh. They now live
In Springfield, Mo.

damask tab le cloths
brought from the Holy Land
by Dr. and Mrs. Bert Elliott.
Fred and John Nelson, sons of
the honored couple, decorated
the wedding cake.
Edwin Nelson and Lillian
Paulsen were married in a
double wedding ceremony,
January 18, 1911, in the home
of Mrs. Nelson's mother at
Cando, N. D.; the Rev. Mr.
Qui!ley officiated. The other
couple was Mrs. Nelson's sis
ter, Hannah and Evan Jones.
Tli couple lived for a short
time at f argo, N. D., later
moved ifi jMlnot. N. D., where
tfy e:ded until coming to
the Craterian theater in Med
ford Tuesday. A double cast
plays alternate performances.
Remaining tickets for the
Medford perfomances will be
sold in Medford area schools
during the lunch hour Mon
day. Children's tickets are 35
cents and adults, 50 cents.
Performances will be at
2:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., the
first for primary grades and
the second for intermediate
grades.

at the schools from 11:30 a.m.

Medford in 1945. Mr. Nelson
was in the building and con
tracting and construction bus
iness until retirement in 1956.
Both of the Nelsons are ac
tive members of the Assembly
of God church. Mrs. Nelson,
Women's Bible class teacher,
has been teaching Bible classes
since she was 12 years old. Mr.
Nelson, Men's Bible class
teacher, started teaching Sun
day school classes at the age
of 17. In the early days of the
Assembly's church in North
Dakota, the couple helped or
ganize churches in Egeland
and Minot.
In addition to the Assem
bly's work, Mr. Nelson is a
charter member of the Gid
eons in Medford, having
served as president and in
other official capacities. Mrs.
Nelson is a member of the
Gideons Auxiliary.
Out of town guests were
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nelson,
Seattle, Wash., and Mr. and
Mrs. James Nelson, Kent,
Wash., son and grandson of
the couple. Also Mrs. Emily
Wheeler, Live Oak, Calif.
Later in the evening, 21

er at a local restaurant.

Pharmacology
Course Planned
A course in pharmacology,
which will be given locally,
was discussed at the January
30 meeting of Jackson County
Licensed Practical Nurses as
sociation. The group met at
Rogue Valley Memorial hos
pital. The course, to be conducted
at the hospital in the near
future, will consist of 30
hours, from 7 to 10 p.m. for
ten weeks. Ten licensed prac
tical nurses signed for the
course immediately.
Mrs. Francis Earhart was
an honored guest at the meet
ing and was presented a gift
for her services to the associ
ation. A social hour and gift
exchange followed. Eighteen
members and guests were
present.
The group's next regular
meeting will be February 27
at Sacred Heart hospital.
