PERFECT SNOW CONDITIONS This view from Lhe boltom of Lhe pro
posed ski resort beginner's hill shows there is plenty of snow available.
Actually the snow visible here is three feel deep. The heuvy coaling
lasts into May, even though temperatures on the floor of the Rogue
valley climb into lhe 80s. A six-month ski season would be possible on
Mt. Ashland. ,

MAIN LODGE AREA If the Mt. Ashland ski resort be-, tics. Included in this amount would be the lodge, power ',
comes a reality, planners have decided the snowy area in plant shelter, ski-lift, power plant and auxiliary power
the upper right corner of this picture would be a possible facilities, lodge equipment and furnishings, sewage disposal
location for the main ski lodge and parking area. Proposed system and preparation of ski runways, excavation of land
plans call for sinking $165,000 into development of facili- for the ski lodge and parking site.
LONG WALK Skiers at Mt. Ashland are assured of gelling plenty of,
exercise at the present time. With no ski lifts to help them to Ihe
lop of slopes, enthusiasts have to rely on walking. These three toting
skis over their shoulders are (from left to right) Jim Burke, Jerry
Stephen and Wally Ivcrson. Its a long walk, but well worth it with a
breezy trip down the hill on skis promised once they reach tha top.
BEAUTIFUL VIEW The view on all sides of Mt. Ashland is beautiful.
On one slope botii Mt. McLoughlin and Mt. Shasta are visible. This
scene was taken looking to the south. The Siskiyou mountains aio
visible on lhe horizon. In lhe middle of the picture a possible ski slope
may be seen. Three feet of snow is on the ground where this picture
was taken. However, snow depth exceeds four feet in some areas.
