Mrs. Knnth Roger Taplett
Taplett - Stack Marriage
Ceremony Announced Here
From Prescott, Ariz., comes
news o the wedding of Miss
Mary Patricia Stack, Prescott,
to Kenneth Roger Taplett, son
of Mrs. Arthur Taplett, 919
Dakota avenue, Medford, and
the late Mr. Taplett. The
bride's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. George H. Stack, Pres
cott. The Rev. Charles Gielow
performed the formal double
ring ceremony at noon De
cember 28 in Sacred Heart
Catholic church. More than
200 guests attended.
The bride wore a floor
length gown of embroidered
lace and satin, with a scal
loped sweetheart neckline and
wrist-length sleeves. The bouf
fant overskirt of tulle was ac
cented with appliqued lace.
Her elbow-length veil of silk
illusion was held by a eap of
taffeta, lace and seed pearls,
and she carried a bouquet of
white poinsettias.
Miss Joanne Johnson, Seat
tle, was maid of honor and
bridesmaids were Miss Kath
leen Stack, sister of the bride,
and Miss Barbara Taplett,
Medford, sister of the bride
groom. They wore street
length gowns of red velveteen
with matching accessories and
headpieces. They carried
white fur muffs accented with
red poinsettias.
Susan and Joan Newcomer,
nieces of the bride, were flow
er girls. Robert Pearson, Seat
tle, served as best man. Ush
ers were Jim Romig, Seattle,
Novian Anderson and Dan
Thompson, Prescott.
The bride's 10 - year - old
nephew, John Timothy New
comer, sang and Mrs. Jack L.
Ogg was organist. The church
was decorated in the Christ
mas theme.
The bride's mother wore a
silver-taupe sheath and the
bridegroom's mother chose a
navy print dress for the wed
ding and reception, which fol
followed in the St. Michael
hotel.
The bride is an alumna of
St. Joseph's academy and Mt.
St. Mary's college, Los Ange
les, and is a member of Gam
ma Sigma Phi sorority. She
was graduated from the Unit
ed Air Lines stewardess train
ing school, Cheyenne, Wyo.,
and served as a stewardess
based at Seattle. The bride
groom, a graduate of the Uni
versity of Washington, is a
marketing researcher. He is
a member of Delta Upsilon
fraternity.
The newlyweds are making
their home in San Francisco
where the bridegroom is with
the Best Foods company.

Mrs. Crocker, the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Lee F. Root,
former Medford residents and
now of Seattle, Wash., will
leave today en route south to
visit her parents who are
spending the winter in Orange,
Calif. She will also join her
husband who will attend
the Associated Equipment Dis

Miss Marilyn J. Parsons,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs
Lloyd N. Parsons, 2329 East
Main street, a senior at Ore
gon State college, is current
ly studying at The Merrill
Palmer Institute, Detroit,
Mich.
Miss Parsons, a home eco
nomics major at the college,
is the first student in home
economics at OSC to be select
ed for Institute training in
five years. She is studying
child psychology and family
relations I during the quarter
she will be in Michigan.
The Merrill-Palmer Insti
tute is a collegiate institution
which, through comprehen
sive programs of teaching, re
search, and community serv
ice, is a center for the study
of all the things that affect
normal human development
in mind and body and that
affect the relationships of hu
man beings to each other in
the family and in the com
munity. Undergraduate students in
their junior and senior col
lege years are selected to at
tend the Institute based on
scholastic average and recom
mendation of instructors. Stu
dents are selected in the fields
of sociology, home economics,
psychology, education and re
lated subjects. Students re
ceive full credit for their
work at their home institu
tions for the Merrill-Palmer
Institute studies.
Miss Parsons, a graduate of
Medford High school, attend
ed Willamette university two
years prior to transferring to
OSC. She is a member of
Omicron Nu, honorary home
economics fraternity.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence L.
Clark, 2118 Dellwood avenue,
left yesterday for Downey,
Calif., to attend the wedding
of their son, Lawrence Clark
Jr. to Miss Julee Lucille
Trimmell of that city.
Traveling south with the
Clarks is their daughter,
Ginny, who will be a junior
bridesmaid at the ceremony
to be held Saturday, January
28, at 2 p.m. at the First
Presbyterian church, Downey.
Another daughter of the
Clarks', Sandy, a sophomore
at Lewis and Clark college,
Portland, will fly to Los An-
ireles next Friday. She will
be a bridesmaid at the wed
ding..
The bride-elect is a daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. David B.
Trimmell. She is a graduate
of Warren Senior High school
in Downey and attended Long
Beach State college. She is
employed by Bakef Oil Tools,
Inc., Los Angeles.
Her finance is a graauaie
of Medford High school and
attended Southern Oregon col
lege. He served four years in
the U.S. Air Force and is em
ployed by Autonetics Corpo

Chairmen
Announced
The chairmen for the 1961
Easter Seal foundation proj
ect, an annual project of Del
ta Omega chapter of Epsilon
Sigma Alpha, were announced
at a recent meeting of the
chapter.
Chairmen are Miss DeMaris
Glutsch, Mrs. Pat Brinson and
Mrs. Leland A. Carpenter.
Mrs. Robert Shangle, presi
dent, was selected by the chap
ter as a candidate for election
as state treasurer of the sorority.
Mrs. Melvin Saltmarsh re
ported on the "Have Santa -
Will Travel project in Decern
ber and Mrs. Carl Peterson
and Mrs. Leroy Hatcher gave
a skit in connection with the
December educational program.
Guests were Mrs. Ernest
Black and Mrs. John Watson.
Mrs. Carpenter served re
freshments and assisted the
hostess Mrs. John Uerlings.

Franklin W. Berns, Glendale,
former Medford residents, an
nounce the engagement of
their daughter, Barbara Jean,
to Steven Sutch Jr., son of
Mr. and Mrs. Steven Sutch,
Glendale, They plan a June
wedding.
Miss Berns is a senior at
Glendale High school. Her
fiance was graduated from
that school and is an employee
of Berry Logging company.
Rickers Return
From Long Tour
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene K.
Ricker have returned to their
apartment at the Medford
Plaza after spending the past
several weeks in Europe. The
couple sailed from New York
City in October on The Inde
pendence Sun Lane cruise and
first visited Casa Blanca,
Palma on the island of Ma
jorca and Gibralter.
Later the Rickers visited
Messina,' Sicily, and several
cities in Italy, including
Naples and Genoa. They also
toured Spain.
In Augsburg, Germany, the
Medford travelers were guests
of .their son, Capt. John K.
Ricker of the United States
Army and his family. The two
families spent some time in
Paris, and at Christmas lime
all were at Garmisch.
The Rickers returned to
Genoa and sailed from there
on the Leonardo Da Vinci, ar
riving in New York City Janu
ary 16.

the bride of James Meade,
son of Mr. and Mrs. James
B. Meade, Wilderville, in a
ceremony at St. Luke's Epis
copal church.
The Rev. Robert J. Sayers
officiated at the four o'clock
afternoon rites held Decem
ber 24.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore an aft
ernoon length frock of white
cotton lace fashioned with fit
ted bodice, bouffant skirt, and
scoop neckline. Her shoulder
length veil was held by
white seed pearl and satin
headdress and she carried a
white orchid on a white pray
er book.
Miss Janet Johanscn attend
ed the bride. She wore a
frock of red brocade with
matching accessories, and car
ried a nosegay of red and
white carnations.
David Lee Meade, Wilder
ville, served as best man for
his brother. Dr. Steven Dip
pel, Grants Pass, seated the
75 relatives and friends at
tending the ceremony.
The decorations were in
keeping with the season.

reception was given by Mrs.
Garland A. Faye, sister of the
bride, at her home 1386 NW
Conklin street. Mrs. Myrtle
Coulter served champagne
and Mrs. Walter A. Moran cut
and served the wedding cake
assisted by Steven Faye, nep
hew of the bride.
The bride attended Medford
schools and was graduated
from Grants Pass High school.
She was employed as a secre
tary for the Oregon Adjust
ment Bureau. Mr. Meade also
attended Grants Pass High
school and is employed by
Robertson Logging company.
He is a student at Oregon
State college. The couple are
making their home in Corval
lis.

guests attending were Mrs.
Rose Blitz, Los Angeles,
grandmother of the bride
groom and Mr. Moran, Miss
Coleen Barr and Miss Caron
