Court Requested
To Remove Stumps
Howard Norwood, repre
senting the Rogue River
Chamber of Commerce, re
quested the county court Fri
day morning that logs and
stumps be removed from the
water-skiing area near Sav
age Rapids dam.
Norwood suggested that the
. debris could be removed eas
ily by county welfare work
crews while the water is out
from behind the dam.
The Rogue River man said
the stumps and logs are a
hazard to water skiers using
the lake extending from the
dam to Evans creek. A num
ber of injuries, and at least
one death, have resulted from
subnierged hazards there.
The county court has taken
the matter under advisement.

off with a roast Thursday
morning.
Eleanor 8. Poythress re
ported the theft occurred
about 10 a.m. Restaurant
personnel chased the thief
down the alley behind the
reitaurant, where he
dropped the roast. Although
it was recovered, restaurant
people said it was ruined
by the thief's large, iharp

county dog control officer,
said he and hii crew made
a thorough search of the

This further points up the
need for more stringent dog
