wedding Saturday, November
26, of Miss Mary Suzanne
Dion to Samuel Mitchell, Jr.,
both of Hay ward, Calif. The
Very Rev. Carl Mai officiated
at the afternoon ceremony.
Dr. and Mrs. J. R. Porto,
232 Valley View drive, at
tended the couple. The bride,
a sister of Mrs. Porto, is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Dion, Waterville, Minn. She
is a graduate of the College of
St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minn.,
and is a dietician.
' The bridegroom, a graduate
of Massachusetts Institute of
Technology, is the son of Dr.
and Mrs. Samuel Mitchell,
Flushing, N. Y. He is a nuclear
engineer with the General
Electric company.
- The couple will reside in
Hayward following return

played the wedding music.
The bride wore a white
sheath dress and carried -a
bouquet of pink roses. Mr.

Following the ceremony a
reception was held at the Bean
residence. Miss Renelda Grif
fith, Miss JoAnn Lilly and
Miss Laura Bean served the
punch and cake. Miss Barbara
Bean was in charge of the
guest book.
The couple are making their
home in Prospect. The bride
attended Prospect High school.
Mr. Kolkin attended Cass
Lake, Minn., schools and is
employed by the U. S. forest
service at the Union Creek
Ranger station, Prospect,
Moon-Ward Rites Held
Miss Janet Mae Ward be
came the bride of Gerald Le-
roy Moore in a double ring
ceremony held December 4 at
First Methodist church. Dr.
George G. Roseberry officiat
ed at the wedding and holy
communion.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin H. Ward,
30 Richmond avenue. Mr.
Moore's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Frederic C. Moore, Aber
deen, Wash.
Baskets of white chrysan
themums and red carnations
decorated the church for the
ceremony, attended by 100
relatives and friends. Mrs,
Gerald Sherman played the
organ music for the two
o'clock afternoon rites and ac
companied Otis Swisher, solo
ist.
The bride wore a floor
length gown of white Chan-
tilly lace over taffeta fash
ioned with long sleeves, fitted
bodice and Sabrina neckline.
The . bouffant skirt of tulle
was overlaid with wide bands
of scalloped lace, forming a
vce design in back and front.
It ended in a chapel train
Her fingertip length veil of
silk illusion was held by a
lace and tulle headoiece
trimmed with pearls and iri
descent sequins. She carried
a bouquet of red roses.
Mr. Ward gave his daugh
ter in marriage,
Mrs. M. Ned Plowman.
Portland, was matron of hon
or for her sister. Bridesmaids
were Miss Sharon E. Moore
and Miss Mary Lou Moore,
both Aberdeen, Wash., sisters
of the bridegroom. . Little

Holiday
Parties Held .
Gala holiday parties, large
and small, fill the social cal
endar in the Rogue valley this
week.
This evening Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Falrweather and Mr.
and Mrs.. Frank Van Dyke
have invited a group of
friends to Rogue Valley Coun
try club. Cocktails will be fol
lowed by dinner.
Last Sunday three couples.
Dr. and Mrs. David C. Boals,
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Harrington
and Dr. and Mrs. Thomas J.
Tinsleys were hosts for a cock
tail party. The event was held
at the Boals home, 34 Glen
Oak court. Decorations were
in the Christmas theme.
Also entertaining recently
were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Nordquist and Mr. and Mrs.
F. L. Somers, who invited a
group of friends to the Som
ers' home, 36 Glen Oak court.

Coachman motel, has been
named to the cast of a Uni
versity of Oregon play, ''The
Potting Shed." She is a fresh
man majoring in 'drama and
speech. -
Ten performances of the
play are scheduled, beginning
February 2.

At Two Parties
Shady Cove - Mr. and Mrs.
G. Raymond Chubb of Shady
Cove announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Susan
Marguriette, to Bernard' Lee
Nork, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.
F. Nork, also Shady Cove.
Miss Chubb is a sophomore
attending the University of
Oregon. The traditional en-
gagement announcement took
place in her dormitory, with
the traditional song being
sung. A surprise party was
given the honoree following
the announcements Sweetser
hall.
An engagement party was
given the young couple by
friends the last tjme the bride-
to-be was home from school.
Miss Lynda Conkey and Miss
Bonnie Smith were co-host
esses in Miss Smith's home, in
Shady Cove, to the group for
retresnments. Heart - shaped
twin cakes were served.
Later on the groUD traveled
to the home of Larry Clements
in Eagle Point for an evening
of dancing. Others attending
were Henry Conner, Frances
Flink, Phyllis Briggs, Dale
Casey, Jackie Hume, Larry
Smith and Linda Eccleston,
all of Shady Cove; James
Vanderlip of Ashland, Joyce
Hastings, student at Southern
Oregon college, Calvin Hud
smith, resident of California,
and Gary Williams of White
City.
Both young people are
graduates of Eagle Point High
school. Miss Chubb attended
her freshman year at Brigham
Young university in Provo,
Utah. She has been partici
pating in the activities of "The
Amphibians," a women's wa
ter ballet group.
Mr. Nork attended Oregon
State college, and now is a
student at Southern Oregon
college, Ashland, and em
ployed by the B. F. Nork Log
ging company. Shady Cove.
No date has been set for
the wedding which will take
place sometime in 1961.

The couple traveled to San
Francisco and San Jose on
their wedding trip, the bride
wearing a black and white
wool dress with black acces
sories. They are making their
home in Corvallis.
The bride attended Med
ford High school and was pro
duction clerk for Fluhrer's
Bakery. Mr. Moore attended
John Rogers High school,
Spokane, Wash., and Southern
Ore., college. He will be a
sophomore in the college of
electrical engineering at Ore
gon State colelge.
Among the out of town
guests who attended the wed
ding and reception were Mr.
and Mrs. Moore, parents of
the bridegroom; Mr. Plowman
and Vicki, Portland; Mrs.
Harry Spies, Homedaje, Ida
ho; Mrs. James F. Moore and
Mrs. James E. Lewis, both
Spokane.
The evening prior to the
wedding, a buffet supper was
held at the Ward residence at
tended by members of the bri
dal party and out. of town
guests. About 25 attended.

Mark's Episcopal church.

with a dessert and shower
at the home of Mrs. Jack Kerr
in Eugene Friday evening,
December 9th.

was used at a luncheon and
shower given at the home of
Mrs. William Edwards, 3251
Lone Pine road. Mrs. Edwards
was assisted by Mrs. Fred
Morlan and Mrs. Edmund L.

The Ralph Hibbs home, 190

day, December 14. Mrs. Hibbs
and Mrs. Oscar Halboth were
