GREAT WHITE WAY WHITE The Great White Way is
just that white as this view of New York's Times Square
shows after it was blanketed with a H-inch snowfall, the
greatest in the city in 13 years. On the heels of the snow
came a record temperature drop to eight degrees, making
it the coldest Dec. 13 in the history o the New York
weather bureau.

a suspect in the bludgeon
slaying of former California
basketball star Perry Ten
Eyck.
Sheriff Reno Bartolomie
said a fugitive warrant against
the Sandy Hook, Ky., girl
would be dropped because
we do not feel we have suf
ficient evidence at this time
to warrant an extradition
hearing."
Miss Hampton had been
he!d in the Gooding county,
Idaho, jail on the warrant j
which accused her of com- i
piicity in the August, 1959,
slaying of Ten Eyck near
here.
Confessed To Killing
A condemned convict. Era-
melt Spencer, 29,-soon to be
executed in Florida for anoth
er slaying there, confessed the
Ten Eyck killing and accused
Miss Hampton of serving as
sex lure to entice the
victim.
Miss Hampton, who was a
witness in another murder
trial in Idaho, denied any
knowledge of the Ten Eyck
murder and aid she was not
with Spencer at the time of
the slaying.
Until corroborating wit
nesses can be found who can
put Spencer and the girl to
gether in this area at the time
of the murder, we have
nothing but hearsay to go on,"
Bartolomie said.
He added that the investi
gation would continue, how
ever, and witnesses would be
sought.
