Rough Rogue
To Take Pre
Hornbrook - In spite of
itonny weather and unfavor
able road conditions In all
directions, many- persons
traveled to Hornbrook,
Hornbrook folks made their
way to other places to spend
Thanksgiving day with rcla-
lives or friends.
What proved to be a most
extraordinary trek of this
nature was the one under
taken by Mr. and Mrs. Henley
Clawson and their daughter
and her family, Mr. and Mrs.
R. E. Seaman and children
Ray, Bob and Jane of Yreka
and Mr. Seaman's grand'
mother, Mrs. Blanche Robl
son, who joined the group in
Medford.
Their destination was the
home of Mr. Seaman's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Han
sen, five miles up the Rogue
river from Shady Cove on
the opposite side of the river
from the Crater Lake high
way. Under normal conditions
. the Hansen home is reached
by taking a row boat to cross
the river, but It was decided
on reaching the boat landing,
that the Rogue, churned up
by the recent storm and with
logs and debris tossing around,
looked a little too unfriend
ly. So the group returned to
Shady Cove where they
"chained up" and crossed the
river on the bridge, and were
able to drive to within one
mile of their destination. Here
the eight hungry travelers left
their cars and in single file,
tramped through the woods
in the rain and the red clay,
packing along a picnic hamp
er of fresh baked mince pies.
The Hansen place is a state
.protected game farm, and the
visitors enjoyed watching the
deer come down for their eve
ning feeding. Since returning
from a trip to Denmark
around September 1, the Han
sens have remained at their
Rogue river place, but planned
to return to their home In
Medford the week end of November-
26.
Other Hornbrook residents
spending the holiday away
from home were Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Bear who were guests
in Montague at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Halter,
and their son Bradley Halter.
Another guest at the Halter
home was Mrs. Ann Akers of
Yreka.
From Grants Pass, Mr. and
Mrs. W. M. Blanchard drove
over to spend the holiday here
it the home of his brother
and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Blanchard and sons.
Spending the holiday here
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
WHAT DOES THE
BIBLE SAY?
When Abraham was 99, God
promised him that he would
father a child by his wife Sarah,
God told Abraham before Sarah
was with child that she would
bare him a man child and that
his name would be Isaac, the
son of promise, and that the
nation of promise would be
through him. We find on sev
eral different occasions where
things that came to pass 'In the
Old Testament were the fore
thadowing of things to be In
the New Testament, Let us con
sider Isaac of the Old Testa
ment and Christ of the new. It
was prophesied In Gen. 1 7: 1 9
that Isaac's birth was to be a
miraculous birth and his name
would be Isaac. Mis birth was
miraculous because Abraham
and Sarah were both past age to
bear children. In Matt. 1:18,
23, we learn that Mary was
with child by the Holy Spirit,
so Christ's birth most certainly
was a miraculous birth by the
power of the Hoi y- Spirit.
Christ's name was also foretold
long before his birth..
