Chicken, Honduras Style
It Flavorful Specialty
We have chosen this Polio
Hondurena (Chicken, Hondu
ras style) as our recipe of
the week because we west
coasters are always looking
for new and interesting ways
of preparing chickens which
are so plentiful, so economi
cal. The coast line of Honduras
on the Caribbean is 500 miles
long, the country mountain
ous, very fertile though most
ly uncultivated and covered
with rich forest. Inhabitants
are of Spanish and Indian ex
traction. This is their favorite
recipe for chicken, we're told.
Six servings.
4 tablespoons olive oil
or other cooking fat
2 cloves garlic
1 medium (3-4 pound)
chicken cut-up
2 tomatoes, peeled
2 large pimientos
2 tablespoons capers
12 stuffed olives
Vi teaspoon salt
Vt teaspoon pepper
Vt cup tomato juice or water
Brown the chopped garlic
in the hot oil. Add the chicken
and brown all pieces well,
turning as necessary. When
well browned, add the toma
toes cut in cubes, pimientos
cut in strips, olives cut in
half, salt, pepper and tomato
juice. Cover and simmer over
low heat Vh hours or until
tender. Serve with steamed
rice.
Cheese Dessert
Cottage cheese makes a de
licious and nutritious dessert
for children at lunch or sup
per. Spoon cream-style cottage
cheese into dishes and drizzle
with maple sirup or honey.
Some like cream over this.

Market Report Check List
For Smart Shoppers
Accurate news about foods
available in local markets is
essential to well - planned,
economy-wise meals. Many
women planning, buying and
working on a close budget do
a better job nutritionally for
their families than do other
women with unlimited funds.
It has been proven many
limes that the little rich girl
is sometimes undernourished
while the boy on the other
side of the tracks is a poten
tial Olympics team man.
An important part of the
work of your foods eLlitor con
sists of gathering information
about foods that are plentiful,
health-giving and available at
reasonable cost. This informa
tion comes from many sources
and we boil it way down, hop
ing it will be helpful to you

November Best Buys
Cheese is in big supply,
lends itself ideally to main
dishes, sandwiches, salads and
for eating with crisp crunchy
apples, luscious pears, fra
grant grapes, dates.
Rice, one of the most versa
tile and appealing of food
grains is abundant; designated
by U.S. Department of Agri

tle vegetable coloring to water
in which rice is to be cooked.
Meat buys are many with
specials varying from market
to market so look over this
newspaper's ads for best buys
in meats you're hungry for.
Plenty of prime beef as well
as economy cuts that fill the
kitchen with good aromas of
braising and stewing. Fall
lamb is featured. There's more
veal than usual. Pork is in
good supply with emphasis
on bacon, ham and sausage

of (Circulation latue
In the same way that sterling on silver signifies
a standard of known value, so is the A. B.C. em
blem a symbol of integrity for the circulation of
newspapers and periodicals. It means that circu
lation so identified is measured according to the
rules and standards of the Audit Bureau of
Circulations
The A. B.C. is a cooperative and non-profit
association of 3,450 publishers, advertisers and
advertising agencies. Organized in 1914, these
buyers and sellers of advertising brought order
out of advertising chaos by setting
up standards for paid circulation
and establishing rules and methods
for measuring, auditing and report
ing circulations.
Therefore, the work of the A. B.C.,
of which this newspaper is proud to
be a member, provides you with a direct and
valuable service. You can buy advertising as you
would make any other sound business investment
on live basis of well known standards, known
values.
At regular intervals one of the Bureau's large
staff of experienced circulation auditors makes a
thorough audit of our circulation records. The
results of this exacting audit show: How much
circulation we have; where our circulation goes;
how it was obtained; and many other facts thai
you need in order to know just what
you get for your advertising dollars.
This audited information is pub
lished by the Bureau in easy-to-read
A.B.C. reports which are available
to our advertisers on request. Ask
