teresting lives. Hundreds of Jackson county
residents now retired from business and pro
fessional careers and whose family-raising
days are behind them, still fill their days with
stimulating, useful and creative activity,

John T. Ross. Past 80 and long-retired from his work as a contract carpenter, Mr.
Ross collects, cuts and polishes rocks and stones until they are objects of beauty. His
exquisitely fine wood carvings and thin sections of the stones are combined into
table lamps of great .interest. Mr. Ross and his wife, who make their home on Minear
road, have lived in the valley 30 years.

Paul Parson, former captain of the Oregon State Police southwest district with head
quarters at Medford, retired two years ago. Since that time Mr. Parson has done much
fishing and hunting, but says that some of his favorite fishing spots are so crowded
now that he is forced to traval further afield. The Parsons live at 2846 Mernman
road and their well-kept lawns, shrubbery and flower beds testify to the Interest
that both have in gardening.

Painting with water colors bring hours of pleasure to Mrs. William L.
Gray, who lives at 505 Park street. Mrs. Gray took art lessons as a girl
and then, as the wife of a Presbyterian minister and mother of a family,
could not find the time for her hobby. After the death of her husband
she took up painting again and although 40 years had gone by. In no
time at all became completely absorbed. Mrs. Gray's water colors have
a delicacy and preciseness of detail seldom found in this medium.

Roberts. Dr. Roberts, who established hii dental practice here In 908,
is finding his retirement years busy and Interesting. He Is chairman of
the recreation committee of the Rogue Valley Council on. Aging, and
not long ago played one of the leading roles in a play staged by
Footlighters, Medford's little theater group. Dr. and Mrs. Roberts make
their home at 619 East Main street, and one of his favorite spots in
the home is the library.
