ment of Commerce announced
Tuesday that the 1959 census
of agriculture showed Oregon
had 42,573 farms for a total
of 21,583,784 acres.
The census revealed the av
erage size of the farms as 507
acres and average value of the
farms $41,684.
Of Oregon's' farm operators,
31,360 owned their farms,
7,900 owned part of the land
and rented additional acreage
and 3,056 were tenant farm
