Haviland currently U an ad
vanced missile and space sys
tems engineer with General
Electric's Missile and Space
Vehicle department here. For
the past several years his job
had been working on the de
velopment of satellites and
space vehicles and their fu
ture applications.
He has just finished prepar
ing a report on the use of
satellites for weather forecast
ing. He was to deliver it be
fore the 11th annual Congress
of the International Astronau
tical federation in Stockholm
during August.

to it, says Robert Bullard,
home building expert at
Michigan State university.
A home ought to be sound
conditioned like it is air con
ditioned or light conditioned,
he said.
Today's homes have open
floor plans, thin walls, more
sound-bouncing glass and dry
wall, fewer and smaller rooms
with fewer floor-to-celling par
titions and modern furnish
ings that don't absorb as much
sound as the old-style bulky
kind.
Music is noise when you
want to talk, and talk is noise
when you want to listen to
music, Bullard said.
Exports Higher

India is the third largest
cotton buyer this year with
purchases of 618,317 kantars.
