Ram Rocket Fails
In Second Stage
Washington-IUPD - A seven
ton Ram rocket, designed to
study space communications
problems, "failed to achieve
its test objectives" when fired
Tuesday tiight from Wallops
Island, Va.
A malfunction in the second
of five stages prevented the
rocket from reaching its in
tended height of 200,000 feet,
the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration said.
A NASA spokesman said
the rocket was not meant to
go into orbit.
