nish 480 feet of aluminum
awning for the Jackson coun
ty courthouse annex, the coun
ty court has announced.
The company submitted
three alternate bids. The coun
ty engineer will decide which
alternate is best suited for
the job, the county court said.
The alternates, based on
three-foot, four-foot and five
foot angles, ranged from 8.15
per lineal .'oot to $13.10 per
lineal foot, less 10 per cent
discount.
Other bidders were Valley
Shade company and Burk's
Canvass Manufacturing com
pany, both of Medford. The
lumber company was the low
est bidder meeting specifica

electronic sea-going "detec
tive" has been developed to
warn of potentially danger
ous engine trouble in ships at
sea.
The device, a bearing temp
erature monitor, developed
by Bogue Electronic Manu
facturing Co., magnetically
keeps constant check of 40
different bearing points,
which, if overheated, could
cause engine stoppage and
even fire. When overheating
occurs, an electronic "brain"
sounds an alarm which auto
matically pin-points the trou
ble spot.

Section 1 That it is the intention
of the Council to cause the con
struction of curbs, gutters and pav
ing on Benson Street from 10th
Street to Prune Street in accor
dance with the hereby adopted
and identified plans and speciu
cations on file in the office of the
City Manager, at the Citv Hall.
Medford. Oregon, to which plans
and specifications reference is here
by made for details and estimated
costs thereof, and to assess upon
each lot, or part thereof, adjacent
to and benefited by such improve
ment its proportionate share of the
cost of said improvement as provid
ed by the Charter of the City of
Medford.
Section 2. The Council will meet
In the Council Chiimbers at the
City Hnll on the IHth day of Au
gust. liltiO, at 7:30 o'clock P.M.. at
which time and place the owners
of said adjacent property are here
by called upon to appear before
said Council and show cause, if
any, why said improvement should
not be constructed, and why snid
property should not be assessed
for the construction thereof.
Section . That warrants for the
costs of the aforementioned im
provement shall bear interest at
four per cent (4 ) per annum and
shall constitute general obligations
of the City of Medford. and said
warrants shall be Issued pursuant
to. and on the terms and conditions
set forth in. Oregon Revised Sta
tutes 287.502 to 287.510. inclusive.
Section 4. The City Recorder is
hereby directed to serve notice
hereof upon the property owners
aforesaid, by publishing this Ordi
nance once In a daily newspaper,
printed, published and of general
circulation in said City at least
ten (10) days before the date of said
meeting, and by pustiny five copies
of this Ordinance in five public
and conspicuous places in said Citv
for a period of ten U0 days prior
to snid meeting.
