Collier Raps Copco
At Yreka Hearing
Yreka - Randolph Collier,
state senator from Yreka,
Calif., attacked the Califor
nia Oregon Power company,
Thursday, for their proposed
increase in residential rates.
Speaking before a state
public utilitils hearing held
in the Yreka city hall, he
said, "Before Copco comes be
fore this commission they
should prove themselves and
do something for their cus
tomers." With reference to reported
power fluctuations in the
area. Collier said, "I think
before they regulate their
rates, they should regulate
the power."
Hearings on the rate in
crease case have already been
held in Medford.
Girl Cited After
Accident in Medford
Seventeen year - old Mae
Short, who gave her address
as the Lazy L motel, Medford,
sustained slight1 injuries
Thursday afternoon in a two
car collision at the intersec
tion of Highway 99 and Ta
ble Rock rd.
According to Medford po
lice, the car operated by the
injured girl hit the rear end
of a vehicle operated by Elsie
Rita Roosevelt, 49. of 2060
Table Rock rd., which stopped
for another vehicle.
Police do not believe the
Short girl's injuries to be se
rious. Police cited Miss Short
accident occurred at 2:59 p.m. '
