today the New York Yankees

Arroyo, a 37-year-old re
liever, had a 9-7 record with
the Havana-Jersey City club.
He previously pitched for the
St. Louis Cardinals, Pitts
burgh Pirates and Cincinnati
Reds.

the Yankees optioned pitcher
John Gablcr to Richmond,
and also reassigned the op
tion on pitcher Zack Monroe
from Richmond to Jersey

Outfielder Tossed Out

outfielder Jimmy Picrsall was
thrown out of another game
Saturday but the Indians, on
pitcher Jim Perry's 11th vic
tory of the season, won a 4-2
triumph over the Boston Red
Sox.
Picrsall, the heavily-fined
Cleveland problem child, was
ejected by plate umpire Ed
Hurley in the eighth inning
and hotly disputed the order,
leaving the field 10 minutes
later. Manager Joe Gordon
and Coach Mel Harder were
ejected with Picrsall.
Jimmy was being tossed out
for the sixth time this season
after being tagged with fines
by both the American league
and the Indians and ordered
to take several days of rest at
home for earlier disputes with
the umpires.
Perry gave up home runs to
Ted Williams and Willie Tus
by but held tho rest of the
Red Sox In check to make his
record 11-4 for the season.
The Indians got one run In
the first on Johnny Temple's
infield hit, a walk and two
fielders' choices. Picrsall's
single, a double by John Ro
mano and sacrifice flies by
Mike de la Hoz and Perry
produced two more runs, In
cluding the clincher in the
second.
De la Hoz hit his first ma
