refrigerator, or washer-dryer. Today, after
only a few years on the market, they are
up-to-date In performance and appearance.

rest of her built-in kitchen appliances and
to make a family living center both beauti
ful and efficient.

the back corners of the home
food freezer every few months
lor foods that may have been
put away and forgotten.
If it isn't practical to serve
them to your family before
the storage time limit ex
pires, you can thaw, cook,
and refreeze those uncooked
frozen vegetables, meats, ber
ries, and fruits.
These foods, thawed, cook
ed or made into main dishes
or preserves, may then be
cooled, refrozen, and stored
for several more weeks or
months.

Uncooked thawed foods
may be combined in casse
roles or stews and stored in
the freezer for at least an
other month. Raw chicken or
other poultry which has been
over-long in the freezer may
be thawed and cooked, then
sliced and refrozen. It will re
tain its flavor and food val
ues for about six weeks in
this way, and comes in handy
for drop-in guests and quick
lunches.
Uncooked frozen fruits and
berries can quickly be thaw
ed and made into jam. Or if
pies are a favorite, prepare
the fruits for pie-filling and
freeze in separate containers.
To make the most of the
economy features of the freez
er, take frequent inventories
and use up last season's froz
en foods to stock up on quick
to-fix meals-ahead.

After they made their get
away they stopped by a Twin
Falls radio station to let news
men know all about it.
When announcer Bill War
ren reported for work about
5:30 this monring he found a
note, hand-written in pencil,
stuck in the jamb. It said
"There has been a robbery at
Young's Dairy. The safe was
blown open, so forth and so
on."
When Warren called police
for further details he discov
ered officers knew nothing
about the safecracking. Inves
tigation proved the note was
right.
With a home food freezer
there'll be no more fixing
lunches last thing at night or
getting up early every morn
ing to do it.
Enough sandwiches, fruits.
desserts, and drinks can be
prepared to keep the whole
family in lunches for a whole
week ahead - and it only
takes an hour. Then just take
the foods from the freezer in
the morning, pack them in
boxes or bags and the family
is on its way.
Frozen sandwiches, cake.
cookies, and pie thaw in two
or three hours and retain all
their original moistness and
freshness. You can even
freeze whole fruits and pop
them into the lunch box at
the same time.
Fresh. Frozen Bread
Sandwiches mav be made
with fresh or frozen bread.
Frozen bread slices speed
and wich spreading, but
should be taken from the
wrapper only two or four
ices at a time to retain
maximum moistness.
For best results, spread the
bread with softened butter or
margerine and try spicing it
up with a dash of mustard,
catsup, chili sauce, horserad-
or pickle relish. Mayon-
ise and salad dressing are
not desirable in frozen sand
wiches. .
There are a variety of sand
wich fillings that freeze well.
Sliced cooked meat, meat
loaf, chicken, and cheese are
ideal. Spreads made of chop
ped or ground meat, canned
fish, jelly, peanut butter, and
egg yolk mixtures freeze well.
Egg whites when cooked
toughen in the freezer. Cool
sandwich fillings before mak
ing sandwiches.

Shape rolls, then grease well,
and freeze on baking sheet.
Package after freezing and
store rolls only one week.
When ready to use the bread
or rolls, thaw at room tem
perature and allow to rise un

Navy pilot was killed and
another was slightly Injured
Wednesday night when their
single engine Jet bombers col
lided in darkness near this
Naval auxiliary landing field
in Stanislaus county.
The dead pilot was Lt. (jg)
Walter I. McDonnell Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Walter I. Mc
Donnell Sr., 2640 N.E. Flan
ders, Portland, Ore. He was
stationed at Moffctt Naval Air
Station near San Jose, Calif.
The other pilot, Lt. (Jg) W.
D. Craig, 25, Los Hills, Calif.,
was making practice carrier
landings here whert the land
ing signal officer reported
that his F-3H Demond had
blown a tire on takeoff.
Craig requested that an
other plane come alongside
and inspect the damage.
An FB4B Fury that was be
hind Craig was instructed to
fall in with him at 1.400 feet.
Cm dr. Ralph Hoffmeister,
Crow's Landing commanding
officer, said the Fury appar
ently flew into the rear of
Craig's Demond.
Craig ejected and para
chuted to a hay field, suffer
ing superficial burns. The
Fury pilot apparently was
knocked out on Impact with
the other and his body was
found in the wreckage of his
plane.
Police Clear Thefts
With Youths' Arrest
Medford police cleared the
theft of several soft drink
boxes and a number of bi
cycles Wednesday when they
took into custody two juvenile
boys.
The boys, ages 9 and 10,
were apprehended in the act
of Inking boxes from the rear
of the Coca-Cola plant, 800
North Grape St., about 1:45
p.m.
The boys had two bicycles
in their possession and a
check by police revealed that
they were stolen. On inter
rogation, the youths admitted
to police that they had taken
between them about eight bi
cycles during the past two
days. All of the bicycles have
been recovered.
The youths were released
to their parents.

At Crater Lake
Are Now Open
All facilities nt Crater Lake
National park are now open
for visitor use, Otto M.
Brown, park superintendent,
has announced.
Cool spring weather has
prolonged snow melting, de
laying the process of opening
trails and campgrounds, he
noted. Many of the deeper
drifts probably will remain
most of the summer.
The park's four c a m p
grounds are receiving heavy
use, Brown reported. Mazama
campground, n Mission BB
project, has been filled to
near capacity since July 2.

Annie Springs campground
nearby.
Campsites In the Rim Vil
lage campground still are In
terspersed with snowbanks,
he said, but many visitors
have used the camp sites this
year.
Park Roads Optn
All park roads and trails
are open. The lake trail lead
ing to the boat landing on
Cleetwood Cove was opened
July 9, Brown said, The old
trail, which starts from Rim
Village, will no longer be
used.

All Baked Goods
May Be Frozen
You can freeze nearly any
thing you can bake cakes,
cookies, bread, coffee cake,
or sweet rolls. They'll taste
freshly baked, warmed up
from the freezer a few weeks
later.
Commercially baked rolls
and breads may be frozen in
the original, unbroken wrap
per, but should be rewrapped
in moisture proof, vapor-
proof package to store longer
than a week.
Brown and serve rolls may
be frozen and stored for s
week o'r so and special sand
wiches may be frozen and
stored a week. Put frozen
sliced bread right in the
toaster, and it comes out
golden brown.
For baked bread, let cool
completely then wrap in pack
ages and freeze. After storing
up to 12 months, thaw in
wrapper (except plastic wrap
pers) in slow oven for 30 minutes.
If unbaked, prepare yeast
dough and let rise to double
in bulk. Place bread in pans
