Gordon Sadler, 60, of Central
Point, who died Monday, will
be held at Hlllcrcst Mortu
ary chapel . on the North

a.m. Committal will be In
Hillcrost Memorial park,
with Conger-Morris, funeral
directors, in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sadler was born March
21, 1900, In Texas. He was
married July 14, 19S4, in
Benton county, Arkansas, to
Edith Biggs, who survives.
He had lived in Oregon for
five years, the past four
months at Central Point.
Survivors, besides his wife.
include three children, three
stepchildren, four sisters,
two brothers, six grandchil
dren and 11 step-grandchildren.

Portland - (DPB - A fire gut
ted the ground floor of a
string of businesses in North
west Portland late Tuesday
and residents of two apart
ment floors above the street
had to be evacuated.
The four-alarm blaze start
ed at about 10 p.m. in the
basement of a cafe at 623 NW
23rd Ave. and fire spread up
wards Into apartments.
Two firemen were over
come by smoke and were giv
en resuscitation treatment.
Damage to the buildings
was not Immediately avail
able but two businesses alone
totaled damage at more than
$100,000.

Crop Duster Lands
In Parking Lot
Portland (UP A crop
duster pilot used the Tektron
ix Inc., parking lot for a
landing strip today after the
engine of his light plane fail
ed on takeoff from Beaverton
airport.
R. L. Williams escaped in
jury when he pancaked the
craft onto the lot. The plane
skidded off the lot and into
a dirt field.
The plane, which carried
100 gallons of dicscl fuel, in
addition to its gasoline sup
ply, was severely damaged.
Wheat, Barley Burned
Athena - OJPD - About 80
acres of wheat and barley
was destroyed by fire at the
Ralph McEwcn ranch four
miles north of here Tuesday.
The damage was estimated
al about $7,000. The cause
was not determined.
