Huntleys
Back From
Vacation
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hunt
lay, 2179 Crater Lake avenue,
have returned from a trip
they took In a private plane to
Idaho and Montana. Mr. Hunt
ley is a member of the Med
ford Flying club.
The first night they visited
Master Sergeant and Mrs.
Royce Robinson, friends they
had met in Alaska who are
now stationed at Mountain
Home, Idaho. From there they
visited Mr. Huntley's father,
Raymond Huntley,-and Mrs.
Huntley and children, Alice
and Ronnie, in Lewiston,
Idaho.
In Great Falls, Mont., they
visited Mrs. Huntley's broth
er and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Claude Wright, and chil
dren, Claude Jr. and Kath
eryn. Other relatives visited in
cluded Mr. and Mrs. Orville
Wright, Havre, Mont., Mrs.
Huntley's uncle and aunt; Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Papillo and
daughter, Joyce; and Mr. and
Mrs. Gene Huntley, Baker,
Mont., Mr. Huntley's brother
and sister-in-law, and children
Jeannie and Patty.
While in Laurel they visited
Mr. and Mrs. L. W. DeNittis
and attended the 20th class re
union attended by about 35
classmates of Mr. Huntley.
Prior to returning to Med
ford the couple attended the
golden wedding anniversary
of Mr. Huntley s uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Percy
Huntley, Reeds Point, Mont.
The event was attended by
about 300 persons including
the Percy Huntley's son, Chet
Huntley, the news commen
tator from New York City.

rived last Saturday for a two
weeks' visit with Mrs. Lee's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray C.

The Lees also will visit

tinuing to Lakeview to spend
some time with Mr. Lee's par
ents. He is employed by Boe

To Attend
Degree Event
Harry J. Young, Portland,

priest of the grand chapter of
Royal Arch Masons of Oregon,
will be among officers attend
ing the 14th annual Royal
Arch outdoor degree Satur
day, July 10, at Folding Hills
ranch near McLeod.
Others of the official grand
chapter expected to attend
are Vilas J. Brown, grand
king; Simeon II. Sawyer,
grand scribe; Claude K, San
ders, grand captain of host;
Richard H. Tusanl, grand sec
retary; and Glenn W. Smith,
grand royal arch captain.
This is the 14th year the
degree has been staged out
doors. The event attracts
members and wives from
throughout Oregon and north
ern California. Many chap
ters bring candidates.
A dinner will be served at
8 p.m. preceding the confer
ring of degrees. Royal Arch
Widows of the valley, and vis
iting wives, will attend a din
ner and evening of entertain
ment at the V. A. Turpin
home, Old Military road, dur
ing the Masonic event.
Royal Arch Masonry has
been in the valley for 100
years, and locaj chapters won
many honors at this years
grand chapter meeting in
Portland in April.

Donald Staley
Engagement Told
Of interest here is news of
the announcement recently in
Boise, Idaho, of the engage
ment of Miss Dim Flack,
daughter of Dr. and Mrs.
Percy Flack, Boise, to Donald
Martin Staley, Eagla Point.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas G. Staley, Eagle
Point.
The announcement was
made July 7 at a brunch at
the Flack home. The young
couple's wedding is set for
August 15 in Boise.
Miss Flack was graduated
from Stanford university in
1955 and has been assistant
to the editor of Bride and
Home magazine in New York
City the past four years.
The bridegroom-to-be at
tended Columbia university,
the University of Mexico and
the University of Madrid, and
served with the Army Se
curity agency in Europe. He
is a member of the Southern
Oregon Society of Artists and
the Rogue Valley Art associa
tion.
Former Residents
Visit Applegate;
To Go to Germany
Applegate Valley - Mr. and
Mrs. Chester Lind and sons,
Roger and Phillip, who have
spent the last three years in
the Orient, visited friends and
relatives in southern Oregon
during the past week while
en route to Stuttgart, Ger
many, where Mr. Lind will
teach in an American army
dependent school next term.
Mr. Lind taught children of
military and civilian person
nel in American schools of
Okinawa for a year, and spent
another two years teaching in
Japan in both elementary and
junior high schools.
He is a former resident of
the Applegate and is a gradu
ate of Southern Oregon col
lege, obtaining his master's
degree there in 1955. The fam
ily expected to visit in south
ern California and in Kansas,
as well as in Washington,
D.C., and New York City be
fore leaving for Germany.
They also planned to visit Col.
Lorna Kubli in New Bedford,
Mass.
After their arrival in Eu
rope they will attend the Pas
sion play in Obcrammergau,
Germany, and the summer
Olympics in Rome.
