Raps Vote Record
Of Elmo Smith
Monmouth fUPD Mrs. Mau-

that as a legislator Elmo
Smith "has a record of re
action unexceeded in modern
Oregon history."
Mrs. Neuberger and Smith
are the Democratic and Re

November. It was one of the
first times in her campaign
she has criticized Smith.
She told an Oregon College
of Education alumni group
that differences in legislative

Smith would give voters "an
unusual opportunity" to
choose between two candi
dates at opposite ends of the
political spectrum.
Record Defended
She defended her legisla

said she consistently support

natural resources, to save tax
payers' dollars by school re

of race, color or creed.
Mrs. Neuberger said "pro

are trying to remake Elmo
Smith into a 'modern Repub

voting record from the voters'
view. Oregonians are not go

when he stood in the Oregon
Senate and voted against edu
