and psylla. For mites, if a
Kelthane program is followed,
eight pounds per acre should
be used on all varieties of
pears, and for a Tedion pro
gram, eight pounds per acre
should be used on varieties
not sprayed in the first cover.
Cordy said for those using
hose gun rigs, the spray should
be VA pounds of DDT plus A
pound Dieldrin, plus VA
pounds Kelthane or VA
pounds Tediqn as indicated
above.
On apples, the spray should
be 12 pounds of DDT and six
pounds of parathion per acre
or two pounds DDT and one
pound parathion per 100 gal
lons. When orchards adjoin pas
tures or hoy crops onto which
the spray may drift, Cordy
recommended using only
eight pounds Guthion per acre
or VA pounds per 100 gallons
on the nearby rows. He stress
ed using every precaution to
minimize drift. If mites are
building up, he said to add
either Kelthane or Tedion.
Added to the sprays may be
one to two ounces of a spread
er sticker per 100 gallons, he
added.
